Horse Racing tips: Timeform’s best bets at Leicester on Tuesday

The racing boffins at Timeform are all over the Flat card at Leicester.

13:55 – Ocean Runner

OCEAN RUNNER’s sales price rose considerably to 625,000 guineas at the Breeze-Ups earlier this year and he was all the rage in the betting for his debut at Ascot earlier this month. He only beat one rival home on that occasion, but shaped as though he would come on a fair bit for the run, and he will be hard to beat if coming on as expected for that experience. Matloob is another who is entitled to take a big step forward, while newcomers Boneless and Kingswood Flyer are others to note.

14:30 – Impressive Act

IMPRESSIVE ACT is another expensive purchase for the Charlie Appleby yard with a beautiful pedigree and he also shaped with plenty of promise on his debut in a good-looking maiden at York 12 days ago. He appeared to know his job initially but showed signs of greenness when asked for his effort, picked up in the final furlong by the winner who had already shown plenty on his debut. Impressive Act sets a healthy standard on form and, with improvement expected, he should be hard to beat. Golden Mind has a similar profile and will step forward from his Hamilton debut just over a fortnight ago.

15:00 – Annie Law

ANNIE LAW was well backed to open her account on handicap debut at Kempton in February and that form is strong for the grade, and she got back on track following a lesser effort when switched to turf at Doncaster last month, well suited by a more strongly-run race. That form is also solid and she has more races in her from this sort of mark, so she makes most appeal in what admittedly looks an open handicap. Torfrida should have more to offer, too, with Menalippe and Liberty Mountain solid opponents.

15:30 – Prophets Dream

PROPHETS DREAM showed plenty on his handicap debut on his final start last season and produced a big career-best effort to open his account on his return from 11 months off at Bath earlier this month. He was given a positive ride, soon leading and quickening clear around two furlongs out and eased down near the finish. The handicapper has hit him with an 11 lb rise for that success, but Prophet’s Dream should have even more to offer, and a similar ride will see him to good effect at this track. Croachill should have come on plenty for her Ascot return and is the danger in first-time headgear.

16:00 – Manitou

MANITOU was a two-time winner last season but he underperformed attempting to complete a hat-trick in a listed event at Chantilly in October. He has disappointed in two starts this year over a mile, too free on his reappearance and possibly unsuited by heavy ground at Doncaster last time. He takes a big drop in class now, though, and it will be disappointing if he isn’t able to resume winning ways. Montelusa is clearly not straightforward but has the ability to play a part on debut for his new yard.

16:30 – Destined

DESTINED was placed in both starts last year and showed improved form back on turf after six months off when running out a convincing winner at Redcar 26 days ago. She looked a cut above his rivals on that occasion and the handicapper may have underestimated her with an opening mark of 70. She is taken to follow up, with Musical Tribute, who finished a good third at Salisbury on her first attempt in handicap company, feared most.

17:05 – Urban Champion

URBAN CHAMPION returned from breathing surgery with an improved effort when second at Wolverhampton and is fancied to go one better now at the chief expense of Raincloud, who is weighted to have a big say on the back of her good third at Bathlast time out. In-form maiden Future Times seems sure to be on the premises, too.
