With racing action from Goodwood, Haydock, York and the Curragh, we’ve drafted in racing royaltyRuby Walsh and top tipster Rory Delargyto share their top picks on the 5 selected races below.
Dark Thirty should be favourite so you’re getting a good price on the Richard Hannon runner. He won at York last time out under a great ride from Sean Levey and he can win again.
I like Defence Of Fort, who beat Berkshire Phantom at Ascot last year. He didn’t build on that effort too much but he’s better than he’s shown in his last couple of runs. He could surprise the favourite Covey.
I fancy Mondammej to win, with Alligator Alley and Zarzyni chasing him home. Mondammej shaped well last time out at York when finishing fourth and he should have come on for that run.
The Temple Stakes is a wide-open 5f contest and I’m sticking with Live In The Dream. He got caught close to home in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket last time but was a dual winner before that. He should handle the likely quicker ground conditions too. He looks like an improving four-year-old.
Royal Scotsman looked a little unlucky at Newmarket and people are making a lot of Hi Royal hanging left in the closing stages of the English 2,000 Guineas. However, the Curragh is a different test and hanging left won’t help his chances. I’ve been impressed with Paddington this season having won the Madrid Handicap and then followed that up in the Tetrach Stakes at this venue. He looks to be improving rapidly for Team Ballydoyle.
