Horse Racing tips: A 17/2 play leads the way at Salisbury today

17:35 – Serried Ranks

Reveiller is a newcomer of note and he needs a close market check but SERRIED RANKS looks the answer despite his penalty. Ralph Beckett’s 2yo showed his inexperience when winning at Nottingham on debut but he was strong at the finish and the horse he beat had already shown a good level of ability.

18:10 – Cluedo

This is a much stiffer test of her credentials than the Bath handicap she contested ten days ago but CLUEDO (nap) looked promising in thrashing her rivals in good style on that occasion. She can make light of her 10lb rise, with Fair Wind and Just A Spark set to provide the stiffest resistance.

18:40 – Leadenhall

There should be improvement from Be Frank, Ice Cool Harry, Okami and Starproof this season but the pair to appeal most are Awtaar and LEADENHALL. The selection didn’t live up to market billing in either start as a 2yo but both races have worked out and he could prove a different proposition having been gelded.

19:10 – Run To Freedom

Rohaan is a top-class operator when conditions are in his favour but he’s returning from 224 days off and has to concede weight all round in what is a notably strong race for the grade. He will have more big days but others appeal more this evening. Sandrine made an encouraging return to action on AW at Lingfield and she should be fine back at a stiff 6f, while Sam Maximus has a good record fresh and can also make his presence felt. RUN TO FREEDOM was an unconsidered 150-1 shot when second in the big sprint at Ascot on Champions Day but he had made good progress throughout 2022 and there could be more in the locker this year. He looked rusty at Haydock on his return but can leave that behind him here.

19:40 – Lady Rascal

Two of these were placed in a recent 17-runner Newbury handicap and that form might come to the fore here. Manuelito is slightly better off at today’s weights with LADY RASCAL but George Boughey’s filly can beat her old rival again. Climate Precedent is next on the list.

20:10 – Graham

The unknown quantity here is Robusto, up markedly in distance on his handicap debut for a yard that has just hit its stride. He could make a mockery of his mark, but on the evidence of the form book GRAHAM is easier to fancy and gets the verdict after a solid C&D run nine days ago. Papa Ricco is feared most, while Cloud Angel could be unexposed with headgear fitted.

20:40 – Songo

Last year’s winner SONGO was not firing on all cylinders when last seen in the autumn but he has always run well when fresh and is selected to defend his crown. Crescent Lake comes here after a recent win but confidence in him would be higher on slower ground and a bigger threat to Songo may come from Seal Of Solomon, who has taken his form to a new level on the AW this spring.
