13:20 – Temple Of Hera

Michael O’Callaghan is a shrewd operator and he would get a kick out of winning the race sponsored by the stud that he bought Temple Of Hera from at the Breeze Up sales. This is a speedy family and cost €140k at those sales.

13:55 – Democracy

Aidan O’Brien will be warming-up some of his Royal Ascot team this weekend and Democracy looks an ideal candidate on what we saw with a course and distance win in April. This looks the perfect stepping stone for this son of No Nay never.

14:30 – Garrus

Charlie Hills is no stranger to success in Ireland and Garrus handled conditions really well when winning at Newmarket last time. The ground in Ireland will be on the quick side and Garrus should cope with it. Ryan Moore is a very positive jockey booking, especially as he has won on Garrus.

15:05 – Annerville

Johnny Murtagh picked up Mashhoor – a son of Kingman – from the Sir Michael Stoute team at what looks to be a steal at €40,000. He won a valuable handicap at Cork last time and the assessor put him up 6lb for that performance. The ground was on the soft side that day, so Johnny’s other runner Annerville, could be the value play under champion jockey Colin Keane. Annerville was racing in Dubai and should be very fit.

15:40 – Hi Royal

Hi Royal was a huge price (125/1) in the English Guineas and despite rolling around a lot in the closing stages, he finished second to Chaldean. It didn’t look like there was any fluke about the performance and Oisin Murphy is back on board again, which is a help. He has good form on a quick surface which is also a plus. The same can be said for Royal Scotsman who finished just behind him after running very keen in the early stages of that race. Jamie Spencer will try hold him up and the biggest problem could be getting a clear run, so I just prefer Hi Royal.

16:15 – Canute (each-way)

This looks a wide-open handicap and Aidan O’Brien has three runners in it. Ryan Moore rides Farnborough but I am taking a punt on his stable-mate Canute, ridden by Seamie Heffernan. He could be a little unexposed as he has not delivered on his promise so far, being out of a smart race mare in Alice Springs. Maybe this faster ground is needed as she won the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on fast ground.

16:50 – Timeless Soul

Mashhoor could give us a strong form pointer in the 15:05 as Joseph O’Brien’s runner was fourth to him at Cork. That was a really competitive race where Timeless Soul set a very strong gallop on the front end and just got run out of it close home, with just a length separating the first four finishers. The first-time hood looks a good move and I can see this daughter of Night of Thunder lasting home better on this quicker ground.

17:25 – Up And Under

Another Joseph O’Brien inmate now in Up And Under who has finished second in two Group 3 Derby Trials at Leopardstown. This looks a good opportunity to get off the mark now on his fourth start on a racecourse.
