17:05 – PERFECT GENTLEMEN
Mr Boson appeals as the type to do better in handicaps and he’s worth a market check, while recent Bath winner Larrsen and Enborne also have something to recommend them. Congruent (second choice) hasn’t coped with soft ground on her last two starts though she has an AW run that makes her of some interest at this level and can go well, but PERFECT GENTLEMAN (nap) is preferred. The top-weight is 2-2 in C&D handicaps and he looked better than a Class 6 performer when coming from the back to win comfortably here five weeks ago.
17:40 – TWO TEMPTING
A competitive race in which TWO TEMPTING is fancied to gain a second course success. He ran well behind an unexposed winner here last month and a repeat of that might suffice now back on Polytrack. Tahitian Prince (second choice), Billy Mill, Discretion and Farasi Lane make most appeal of the remainder.
18:10 – SPARKLIGHT
My Lady Samantha and Lincoln Legacy are newcomers of note and the market can provide clues. SPARKLIGHT ran well over 5f here on her debut two weeks ago and she can go one better, with old rival Forever A Diamond perhaps the one to chase her home. Fistral Beach should leave her debut effort behind her too.
18:40 – ONE MORE WAVE
Having been a good second over C&D last month, ONE MORE WAVE is the selection ahead of Southwell runner-up Trip To Rome. The Charlie Hills-trained newcomer Timely Escape is next on the list, with Lingfield winner Another Thought also a possible player.
19:10 – KITTEN GLOVES
There is precious little depth to this novice and it presents an excellent opportunity for KITTEN GLOVES to go one better than at Wolverhampton. Kracking will be competitive if not conceding ground at the start but the most likely danger is Glory Sky, for all that it wasn’t a strong race in which she ran second last week at Wetherby
19:40 – SAYIFYOUWILL
Solar Orbiter is sure to be popular on his handicap debut having won two 6f novice events by a wide margin last September. There are some battle-hardened and in-form opponents to contend with though and SAYIFYOUWILL is fancied to confirm recent C&D form with Satin Snake. With Respect and Soar Above are others to consider.
20:10 – BALHAMBAR
An intriguing race which looks to revolve around whether Shockwaves can prove as effective over this trip as he was over 1m on his recent reappearance. He’s by Sea The Moon which offers encouragement but the dam’s side of his pedigree looks less conclusive and his penultimate-furlong sectional of 10.93 at Lingfield confirms he has plenty of speed.
Either way, he still appeals as being well handicapped despite a 12lb rise. Barenboim (second choice) could resume his progress back on AW, while Sea King and Evania bring low mileage and Cemhaan may have needed his reappearance at Newmarket. BALHAMBAR hasn’t been seen since struggling in a warm Royal Ascot handicap last summer, but his earlier Chepstow win looks solid and he could develop into a useful performer this summer.

20:40 – ENDOFASTORM
Low-grade fare but competitive and there are a few in here that like to get on with it so it should be run at a good pace. Reset Button is a solid candidate, while Meisterzinger (second choice), Mount Olympus, Trusty Scout and Knight Of Kings all have something to recommend them. ENDOFASTORM also led last time but she doesn’t have to dominate and still has some potential over middle distances for this yard.
