14:30 – DIVINE COMEDY
DIVINE COMEDY was strong in the betting on her first start since leaving Chris Wall when third at Doncaster last month and she built on that promise in no uncertain terms when running out an 11-length winner back at that venue five days ago. She showed herself to be well ahead of her mark on that occasion, easily moving clear of her rivals in the closing stages and she will be very hard to beat turned out under a penalty back up in trip. Brasca may emerge as the chief threat.
15:00 – THE CAMDEN COLT
THE CAMDEN COLT was easily the pick of the quintet on looks when making his debut at Chester a couple of weeks ago but he was too green to do himself justice, noisey in the paddock beforehand and having no idea in the race itself, either. The sharp nature of the track probably didn’t help, making some headway around two furlongs out after being outpaced, and he has the potential to take a big step forward now, especially moving up to six furlongs. He is expected to turn the tables with Invincible Friend, while Bjorn Ironside and Thunder Blue make most appeal of the newcomers.
15:30 – CHASSERAL
CHASSERAL built on previous promise when opening her account in good style at Newcastle on her final start last year and she shaped well on her return and handicap debut at Newmarket earlier this month. She was well supported that day and she did well under the circumstances after making a solo effort on the far side. She also left the impression she would come on fitness-wise for that run and she has the potential to defy this mark. Hougoumont, who ran well on his recent Hamilton reappearance, and the returning Lulworth Cove also make the shortlist.
16:00 – CATCH CUNNINGHAM
Back down in class and back off his last winning mark, CATCH CUNNINGHAM could be the answer if the first-time blinkers have the desired effect. He can have a line put through his latest effort after blowing the start and he represents a yard that are going along nicely. So Smart hasn’t done much wrong since returning to action last month and is next on the list ahead of Rum Cocktail, who returned to form starting out for her new yard at Ascot.
16:30 – CHEALAMY
CHEALAMY shaped well in some fairly useful races last season and she improved a chunk on her return and handicap debut when runner-up at Southwell last month, beaten only by a well-treated rival who had the benefit of race-fitness. She is best not judged on her latest effort at Musselburgh where nothing went right, having to come wide into the straight and meeting trouble in-running afterwards. Chealamy remains a horse to be positive about moving forward and she looks the one to beat on the pick of her efforts back in maiden company, with the step up to middle distances sure to bring about further improvement. There are some interesting newcomers lurking, however, with Ginza and Flammable looking the pick of them.

17:05 – GIRL RACER
GIRL RACER created an excellent impression when making a winning debut at Wolverhampton in March, displaying signs of greenness but displaying a sharp turn of foot in the closing stages to easily put the race to bed. She improved on her debut form when finishing midfield in the Nell Gywn at Newmarket last month, but she still looked inexperienced while also not getting the clearest run. There should be plenty more to come from her and she will be hard to beat back down in grade. Ronni Scott is worthy of interest based on her excellent pedigree and top connections.
17:40 – VASILISSA
VASILISSA opened her account at Kempton last month and she quickly dispelled a lesser effort in heavy ground at Doncaster when resuming winning ways back on the all-weather last time. She was very well backed on that occasion, this jockey always looking extremely confident on her and she had much more in hand at the line that the official margin suggests. There is no reason why she won’t prove just as effective on turf now trying a sound surface for the first time and she looks a progressive filly. Fahari and Starlight Nation rate the principal dangers.
