13:45 – Bal De Rio

Rated 110, BAL DE RIO is weighted to win his second claimer in recent times, having taken a Clonmel event before winning a Ballinrobe handicap. Benz is rated the same as the winner but has to concede him 18lb. The latter’s stablemates Mylestown Upper and Ballyquin Bay should run well, along with No Trouble.

14:15 – Boher Road

Having run a stormer on hurdling debut at Killarney on return, BOHER ROAD (nap) should be able to go one better today, though it is only nine days since that run. Night Sparkle disappointed last time but has a chance on the form of her hurdling debut effort. Mister Wilson has a squeak while Augeron and Ashdale Flyer are of interest on debut.

14:45 – Horantzau Dairy

Placed in valuable handicap hurdles at Fairyhouse and Punchestown recently, HORANTZAU D’AIRY should win this. Striking, Foxfire Glow and Humanitarian have the ability to run well.

15:15 – The Mediator

With improvement likely from his Down Royal runner-up effort, THE MEDIATOR should confirm form with third-placed that day, Sign From Above, and take this. Napper Tandy ran a stormer on hurdling debut for his new yard and is a player, as is recent impressive Downpatrick bumper winner Extrapolation.

15:45 – Fireworks

An interesting one is FIREWORKS. He’s been getting stuck in the mud over hurdles but all his useful Flat form was on good or faster ground and he could be seen in a very different light this time if his jumping stands the test. Alphonse Le Grande caught the attention of the stewards last time and is up to winning races off his mark. Skip Mahler ran well last time behind a well-treated winner.

16:15 – Serpolette

Watch out for any confidence behind Shana Cloon, whose qualifying runs were on very different ground. SERPOLETTE was a winner off her current mark last year and she’ll be glad to see the back of testing conditions. Mac’s Xpress was in the process of showing improvement when falling last week and he should go well if none the worse for that experience.

16:45 – Hanoi Jane

Positives are decidedly thin on the ground. HANOI JANE could do with settling better but the ability is there to win a race of this nature and, if they go fast up front, that would benefit her enormously. Loup De Tallane should give his running after not getting home over 3m last time, while Costanuci is another for the shortlist.

17:20 – Reflectionist

The first-time hood had a positive effect when REFLECTIONIST went close on his debut for Gavin Cromwell and, given his good Flat pedigree, these drier conditions shouldn’t count against him. Banada Bridge bumped into one last time and she too has solid credentials. Nasee and Bella Union may have big runs in them.
