Horse Racing tips: A 9/1 pick tops the list at Roscommon today

The Racing Post tipster is keen on Bigz Belief in the final race at 20:25.

16:55 – Western Cape
17:25 – Port Louis
17:55 – Brown Eagle
18:25 – Singe Anglais
18:55 – Astar (NAP)
19:25 – Dubawi Spectre
19:55 – Notturno
20:25 – Bigz Belief

16:55 – Western Cape

The form shown by WESTERN CAPE in maidens last year is hard to ignore in a race such as this and he gets the vote. Zero Fighter, Master Garvey and One For Mum are the likeliest alternatives.

17:25 – Port Louis

Plenty of interesting newcomers in what could be a nice maiden. Heliogabalus looks the pick of the two Harrington newcomers, while High Morale could be the pick of the Carriganog trio. Necessitate and Courageous Strike are interesting newcomers also, but it could pay to side with PORT LOUIS who looked progressive at the Curragh and Colin Keane may make good use of his inside draw. 

17:55 – Brown Eagle

Not many of these make much appeal at all. Patrick Street has decent claims on his narrow defeat at Leopardstown last month, while recent form gives hope for Cherry Bloom and Barnhill Rose. It may pay to side with top-weight BROWN EAGLE, winner of a course and distance (C&D) claimer on this card last year and on a good mark after a good run at Cork. 

18:25 – Singe Anglais

A few come into the reckoning here. Designer Cailin is coming along and is not far away judged on a narrow defeat at Cork last time. Dundalk winner Blue Wood and long-standing maiden Derrinlaur Spender are others to come into it. Preference is for SINGE ANGLAIS on the back of a good run in a Sligo claimer last week. The step up in trip will suit him well. 

18:55 – Astar (NAP)

With a hood added today, ASTAR (NAP) will hopefully settle better and can get off the mark at the fifth time of asking. She should be fine on this ground. Hutton Glen will be suited by this step-up in trip but drawn in stall 15 is a hindrance. Gimme Shelter has a solid rating after two juvenile starts and can be involved on return. Galileo’s Compass is most interesting of the debutuants. 

19:25 – Dubawi Spectre

Having run a fine race after a break at Cork last time, DUBAWI SPECTRE should have improved enough from that to get off the mark with a visor on. Autocrat and Stormy Jenn could give him most to do. 

19:55 – Notturno

Whisky On The Hill is greatly respected in his hat-trick bid and a useful apprentice taking off 7lb helps negate the weight rise. However, NOTTURNO is now 15lb better off with the former from their Sligo clash and this longer trip should suit him well, so is selected despite a wide draw. There are loads of potential improvers, including Master Dunraven, Florida Taiga and Rauzan. 

20:25 – Bigz Belief

This looks very open but it might be worth taking a flyer on BIGZ BELIEF, who has been running with credit on the Flat recently and raced too keenly over hurdles three days ago. Magnetic Flyer has to be considered with a 7lb penalty under a fine claimer, as does Gowran winner Sequoiaspirit. Luminous Light, Scott Lang and Wrecking Ball Paul are others to consider.
