It was a pleasing reappearance from DIVINE COMEDY here three weeks ago and, if building on that, she looks sure to be involved. The runner-up that day, Das Kapital, won’t be far away but the main danger could be Carlos Felix.
This is probably not that strong a race and confidence behind any of the newcomers – Aspire To Glory and Havana Rose perhaps the pick of them – could be significant. As things stand, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see expensive Southwell failure RISING FORCE show a lot more this time. Anfaal is next best.
Dark Kestrel was a big eyecatcher on his final run of last season and there’s every chance that he can develop into a decent 3yo. However, ALMATY STAR has the benefit of a run and it was a good one at Kempton behind a decidedly smart rival. McCauley’s Tavern has had many chances but not so Boxing Alex and Lady Chapel, both of whom could leave their initial efforts behind.
Pennymoor has a mixed record on turf but she won a Listed race on Polytrack in her final run last season and could be hard to beat if she can run somewhere near that level on her return. Course winner Aiming High has been in good form on AW this year and is respected back at this track, but the one who appeals most is GOODMORALS. Charlie Johnston’s well-bred filly had no trouble landing the odds in a Wolverhampton novice last month and is open to more progress on her handicap debut.
The mare LITTLE MUDDY (nap) has been in fine form this spring and is taken to win again. Faro De San Juan ran really well in France on the only previous occasion he wore these blinkers and he is second choice, ahead of Libra Tiger who was second of 16 at Haydock three weeks ago.
Harry Magnus (second choice) is up on the upgrade and 4lb for winning as he did at Newmarket seems lenient. A few of these are open to further progress, though, and SECRET GUEST can prove himself well handicapped on this return to good ground. These drier conditions may also assist the headstrong Open Market.
The progressive topweight GOLDEN MAVERICK has won his last two and can land the hat-trick. Handicap newcomer Streetstorm may be the chief danger, while Hidden Code and Ticket To Alaska arrive on the back of good runs.
