13:50 Newbury – Noble Style
14.25 Newbury – Old Harrovian
14:40 Newmarket – Eminency
15:00 Newbury – Bertinelli
15:35 Newbury – Jadoomi

13:50 Newbury – Noble Style

Hard to get away from Noble Style. The fact he’s proven over the trip and ran with credit when sixth in the 2,000 Guineas means he should be winning now dropped to Listed company.

 

14.25 Newbury – Old Harrovian

He has plenty to find on ratings but the manner in which Old Harrovian won on the all weather last time was taking. There’s a few in here that have slight question marks against them whether they’re making their first start of the campaign, or they aren’t as good as they once were. It’s just a pity there’s not eight runners for 3 each-way places, but he’d still interest me as a betting proposition.

14:40 Newmarket – Eminency

Eminency was backed as if much better than his mark of 86 suggested last time at Kempton and whoever felt that was the case would’ve felt hard done by on the day. He got stopped everywhere but he runs in this off the same mark, so I’d expect him to go very close. He’s proven on turf too while Roger Varian’s Revenite would look the main danger.

15:00 Newbury – Bertenelli

I couldn’t tell you the last time Aidan O’Brien had a runner in this race or if he’s even had one? Bertenelli appeals towards the top of the weights as Alder (who beat him last time) ran a solid race in the Dee Stakes last week at Chester. You’d imagine that he would come on from that run and a mark of 99 looks workable on what we’ve seen so far.

15:35 Newbury – Jadoomi

There’s not a massive amount of pace in the race and I Jadoomi could go well. He improved a lot throughout last season and the fact he’s won ‘fresh’ twice in the past that should stand to him. It’s an open-looking Lockinge Stakes but he’ll do for me although I’d prefer if the ground was a little slower.
