13:50 Newbury – Noble Style
There was always a question mark as to whether Noble Style would stay the 1m trip in the 2,000 Guineas on his return but didn’t run too badly to finish sixth. He drops back down to 6f now which looks as if it is going to suit. This race could be a springboard to the Godolphin colt taking higher order in the Commonwealth Cup.
14:05 Newmarket – Gulmarg
The three-year-old has run solid efforts in defeat and is rarely out of the frame. Gulmarg finished third to Surely Not at HQ last time who rubberstamped the form when winning again at Chester. Our 3lb claimer Harry Davies is in the flying form after posting a treble at this venue on Thursday night.

14.25 Newbury – Haskoy
She came a very long way in a short space of time last season, rounding off with a second place finish in the St Leger at Doncaster, before getting demoted to fourth. Haskoy has already proven her ability to go well fresh and although she has a little to find on the figures, she’s going to serve up a real challenge to the boys over 1m 4f in this Group 3 contest.
14:40 Newmarket – Eminency
Clive Cox’s runner was a very smart juvenile and looks to have gotten away very leniently from the handicapper on an unchanged mark of 86 after a luckless return to action at Kempton. Eminency got into a barging match early on and did well to finish a close-up fourth. The stable are in hot form at the moment too.
15:00 Newbury – Exoplanet
He hasn’t lived up to his home reputation so far, but Exoplanet did bump into the Epsom Derby favourite Military Orders last time, when beaten four lengths over course and distance. He now gets an opportunity to show us what he can do on a better racing surface and looks on a lenient mark.
15:15 Newmarket – Jumbeau (each-way)
She ran a cracker of a race in the Windsor Castle Stakes at the Royal meeting last year when fifth to Little Big Bear and posted a decent close-up second in hot company to finish her season. The yard have been operating at a high level with a few close-up finishes just denting their overall win percentage. Jumbeau is a nice price on what is her seasonal and handicap debut.
15:35 Newbury – Light Infantry
David Simcock’s Light Infantry has been unlucky not to have won more races up at the top level so far in a fairly light career. His return effort at Newmarket in a small field wouldn’t have been the ideal set-up but he should have plenty of pace to aim at now in this bog field. We can expect a Jamie Spencer-special with Light Infantry arriving very late on the scene with a telling change of gear.
