I’ve landed on ILLUSIONIST for Sam James and Grant Tuer. He ran at Ripon in April and that was his first since June 2022 so I was happy with that outing where he finished third. Illusionist could have stepped forward off a mark of 90 so I’ll take a chance on him.

14:05 Salisbury – Juniper Berries (NAP)

I’m with JUNIPER BERRIES, who is my NAP of the day in the only non-York race on ITV today. I was really impressed with her win at Bath in April ahead of Grey Gray. I’m pretty confident she’ll bolt up.

14:25 York – Free Wind

I’m with FREE WIND every step of the way. She was really impressive when winning at Haydock last July and that was her first run since September 2021. She might even be a value pick despite her short price.

15:00 York – Croupier

I like CROUPIER for Simon & Ed Crisford in stall six, with William Buick on board. He’s got some decent form but blew out in the Lincoln at Doncaster last time out. I’m willing to put a line through that and he’s a big price.

15:35 York – Passenger

This looks wide open and I’m with PASSENGER. I was really impressed with his win at Newmarket in April. I’m taking a bit of a chance on him with Epictetus at the top of the market but Passenger’s victory was super impressive.

16:10 York – Rocket Rodney

I like ROCKET RODNEY for George Scott. He had a brilliant run behind Little Big Bear in the Windsor Castle at Ascot last year and I’m hoping for more of the same. He’ll do me.
