14:15 – Lacila Blue

Bellaney Lord has looked very promising on a couple of occasions but he ended last season with two heavy defeats and is a very hard horse to weigh up at present. Gordon Elliott’s runner Knocknacree (second choice) showed enough before coming to grief on his debut to be of interest here, while there should be more to come from Bix Beiderbecke, but the answer might be LACILA BLUE who backed up her Musselburgh third with a fairly good run in a valuable series final.

14:50 – Conkwell Legend

He didn’t get far on his chasing debut in December but CONKWELL LEGEND was in excellent form over hurdles at the end of last season and connections are evidently keen to give him another go over fences. Bodhisattva made a very underwhelming chase debut last month but is a player if judged on hurdling form. Recent point winner Western Run faces much stronger opposition today but at least we know he’s in good heart.

15:25 – Haribo Collonges

Competitive. The vote goes to lightly raced 6yo HARIBO COLLONGES, who made it second-time lucky for Patrick Neville when finding plenty in a C&D handicap last month. Kajaki recorded his fifth hurdle win when scoring here last time and he’s feared most ahead of the ex-Irish Trebizond, who made a good start for his new yard when forging clear at Hexham. Born Famous has been an instant success in her two starts for new connections and would be highly respected if brought out again after yesterday’s win.

16:00 – Scots Poet

A winner at Musselburgh in February, SCOTS POET (nap) might have been a shade unlucky not to land a valuable series final there two starts ago and would almost certainly have preferred a stronger pace to aim at before running on well for fourth at Ayr last time. He remains very much of interest and gets the vote here ahead of recent Flat winner Bertie’s Wish. Calico and Well Planted should also feature.

16:35 – Everyday Champagne

This can go to EVERYDAY CHAMPAGNE, who took well to chasing last season and moves back up in trip after finishing well to go very close over 2m5f at Carlisle last month. Last year’s runner-up Frau Georgia has a lot more to prove but looks interesting on her return to this track and is feared most.

17:06 – Sword Of Fate

Recent Kelso winner Azof Des Mottes is open to more progress over fences and he’s respected for an in-form yard. Lucinda Russell has a couple of interesting contenders in Spark Of Madness and Izzy’s Champion, while Friary Rock needs a close look on his return to action. However, the vote goes to last year’s winner SWORD OF FATE, who was a good second over 2m here last month and looks a major player on this big drop back in grade.

17:38 – Minelladestination

Several have possibilities but it might be worth sticking with MINELLADESTINATION, who got back on the scoresheet at Stratford last month and is only 2lb higher here. Gordon Elliott’s Up And Out is feared most, ahead of the handicap newcomers Beauty To Behold and Rose Of Siena. The other one on the shortlist is Bella Bluesky, who travelled well for a long way at Kelso last time and looks interesting with a tongue-tie added on this drop back in trip.
