Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPs table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
EILEAN BUBH won four times for new yard last year, including twice over C&D (good/good to firm). His season ended in July and he hasn’t been at the same level this term, but his Thirsk Hunt Cup sixth (1m, soft) was a step back in the right direction and the better ground and return to York are both possible positives. Edging back down the weights and he’s one to be interested in.
THE FOXES has big-race entries. Won his last two starts as 2yo, notably the 1m Group 2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket in which he outpointed three rivals (including odds-on Flying Honours) in a slowly run race. Good second in the Craven at Newmarket (again 1m on good) on reappearance, which he needs to improve on but it looks certain on pedigree that this move up in trip will suit.
NAVIGATOR JACK won at Listowel in June on soft (2m4f). Mark is competitive and Tipperary return encouraging but still not sure about this trip. Yard off the back of good season.
POWER OF GOLD was a runner-up on debut, which he didn’t really build on until third of eight from off the pace on seasonal/handicap debut at Redcar (1m2f, good to soft) two weeks ago. May have more to give.
