13:50 York – La Yakel

ITV Racing Wednesday gets under way here at York with a handicap over 1m4f. LA YAKEL should go well here for the powerful Tom Marquand and William Haggas combination. My hope remains on a mark of 92, the rating he was fourth off when last seen in a decent handicap at Newmarket in October. Ground and trip are ideal although the draw could have been a little lower.

14:05 Newton Abbot – Swinging London

ITV also show one race from Newton Abbot Wednesday in this handicap hurdle over an extended 2m2f. A tough contest. SWINGING LONDON has cheekpieces on for the first time and that might make the difference after a couple of second places at Huntingdon and Warwick. Olly Murphy trains and takes 3lb off his charge via Lewis Stones. Has been running over shorter but should stay.

14:25 York – First Folio (each way)

Another handicap this time over 6f. Very tricky. FIRST FOLIO is still high enough in the weights but still has an each way chance for John Ferguson and Danny Muscutt. A sixth in the Wokingham off 99 was a fine effort and he’s only 1lb higher here. Should be ready for this test after a spin at Kempton in March.

      15:00 York – Creative Force

Up in class here for a cracking Group 2 Duke of York Stakes over 6f. A fitness advantage means CREATIVE FORCE has an each way chance at the very least. He disappointed first time this season when only third at Newmarket and then ‘had’ to win dropped in class at Haydock last time. Those two efforts should have put him spot on for this test and he’s a pretty good horse on his best form. William Buick rides for Charlie Appleby.

15:35 York – Midnight Mile (each way)

A Group 3 here in the Oaks trial that is the Musidora over an extended 1m2f. Lots of questions going to be answered here. There are some sexy runners from big stables but I’ll chance a few quid eachway on MIDNIGHT MILE at longish odds for Richard Fahey and Oisin Orr.

The daughter of No Nay Never won in style at Doncaster and Newmarket last season before running on from a hopeless position to be fourth behind Meditate in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf at Keeneland. That was an awesome run and if she stays this far she’s not going to look out of place in this field.

16:10 York – Zu Run (each way)

A handicap over 7f. Hard to know what ZU RUN will be able to do on turf as he didn’t show much at Salisbury on debut. However he has done well since then on the all-weather, scoring in a big field at Chelmsford before finishing second to Lord Uhtred at Kempton. That was over this trip and he kept on nicely. Each way chance for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
