17:40 – Miss Mach One
Only two runners have the benefit of experience, with MISS MACH ONE setting the standard and Line Of Fire very much a possible improver for last year’s winning yard. Flora Of Bermuda, Graceful Thunder and Say Hello are particularly interesting newcomers, in that order of preference (heed the market signals for further guidance).
18:15 – Roost
Doncaster runner-up ROOST (nap) could well go one better, with this longer trip and first-time headgear likely to bring about further improvement. Cinnodin (second choice) has to be feared despite stepping up two grades and Enochdhu is another progressive sort, while Star Mood is an interesting handicap debutant.
18:45 – Slipofthepen
Johnston colt Finn’s Charm (second choice) is likely to get an easy lead and remain in front for a long way. However, highly promising SLIPOFTHEPEN is taken to come with a telling late swoop and maintain his unbeaten record en route to a likely crack at Royal Ascot. Grey’s Monument and Captain Winters are lesser players based on their reappearance efforts and, unlike the other two runners, they’re not entered in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

19:15 – Tajawal
A trappy race as all six should have better days ahead of them. TAJAWAL must be smart to have run so well in a strong maiden at Wolverhampton despite lacking focus in the closing stages. Headgear could be the making of him. It looks significant that Godolphin have persevered with Royal Symbol and he could be the danger, though it’s hard to knock Artistic Star, Clever Relation or Torito after their likeable wins last time out.
19:45 – If Not Now
All three colts are open to further progress. The percentage call goes to IF NOT NOW who perhaps has the greatest potential, being the only runner with a major entry (and a Group 1 at that). Blue Universe, who may be the one to dictate the pace, is second choice. God Of Fire is interesting back from a layoff.
20:20 – Gert Lush
While Mountain Queen is the only runner arriving here on the back of a competitive performance, a chance is taken on GERT LUSH. She was easy to back when well held on her reappearance and the booking of William Buick points to a more prominent showing here. Karatayka can also get involved.
