15:45 – Moonstone Boy

Golden Mind has a Redcar 2-year-old Trophy entry later in the season, but judged on his breeding, five furlongs is surely just a starting point, while Irish Nectar is entered in the big Doncaster Sales race later in the year. However, the twice-raced MOONSTONE BOY may be able to use his experience to open his account at the third time of asking following a good run behind Love Billy Boy on his second start at Musselburgh.

16:15 – Revision

Seven furlongs in a class two at York on his final start was too much for Hougoumont and he could easily bounce back here, but preference is for Kevin Ryan’s REVISION. The son of Ardad wasn’t suited by taking a wide course on a soft surface last time out at Pontefract and is better judged on his previous run behind Danger Alert at Kempton Park.

16:45 – A La Francaise (each-way)

With the Jim Goldie yard beginning to fire I will be having an each-way play on his chestnut filly A LA FRANCAISE who failed to see out a mile and a half at Musselburgh last time out when she was very keen through the first half mile and paid for those exertions early on down the home stretch. Dropped 2lbs for that run and down in distance she should step up markedly on that run and give the likes of My Little Queens and Centre Court a run for their money.

17:15 – Dutch Decoy

This looks particularly competitive, but the assessor has given DUTCH DECOY a real chance having dropped him to a mark of 87 less the 3lbs claim of Oliver Stammers. That means he is back on his last winning mark and there was a lot to like about his last two runs class two handicaps at Newmarket, the latter when four lengths off King of Conquest in a better race than this when he just faded up the final 150 yards climb to the line at Headquarters.

17:45 – Object

The hat-trick seeking veteran, Spoof, remains on a fair mark of 86 with crack apprentice Billy Loughnane on board and looks sure to give it a good go off top weight here. I just think that he may well be vulnerable giving up 8lbs to the Tim Easterby trained four-year-old, OBJECT. I was particularly taken by his run at Thirsk last time out when he hunted up Great State and Vespasian at a mammoth price. He has actually been dropped a pound for that run and any of the forecast showers will be in his favour.

18:15 – Geremia

Despite his win last time out, top weight Fairmac still looks nicely in off 80 with Franny Norton on board, although it is worth noting this event has a bit more strength in depth than the field he saw off at Musselburgh. That could well open the door to Dundory and the Jim Goldie trained GEREMIA. My pick has been a victim of his own consistency in the past 12 months, but is finally down to a mark only a pound above his last win and his close up fourth to HMS President was a cracker in the context of this contest.

18:45 – Faylaq

Knight of Honour and the thoroughly unexposed Thunder Roar are just two major players in a wide open finale and a win from either would not be a surprise. However, FAYLAQ takes a significant step down the class ladder and he finished with a real rush from off the pace when a closing second to Postileo over two furlongs further here a week ago and you could argue his best form is at this shorter trip.
