Sir Rumi got a tremendous ride from William Buick at Epsom last time when winning by a length. Three of his last four runs have come on heavy ground so you have to give him a chance, however, I’ve landed on High Fibre. He’s very lightly raced and he showed a lot of promise as a two-year-old. He’s got solid form, he looks unexposed and he’s one to follow.
Belhaven finished first at Nottingham earlier this month ahead of Sly Madam and I fancy her to confirm the form. Pierre-Louis Jamin takes off 3lbs and that could be crucial for Harry Eustace. She’ll do for me.
I’m going to take a chance on Perotto, who doesn’t have form on soft ground. He’s been running on quick ground but he doesn’t seem to enjoy that. He’s changed stables and he’s now with Roger Varian. I’ve had him in my notebook for a while so I’ll take a chance with David Egan on board. He’s got a good draw and the ground shouldn’t be an issue. I’ll also include Kingdom Come, Safe Voyage, Accidental Agent and Sir Dancealot in my trifecta.
Homme Public has been running over bigger distances but he’s got much better form over this 1m7f distance. 137 is a fair mark for him and I can see him running into a place. Byker is dangerous but his price suggests that so I’ll stick with Homme Public at a much bigger price.
Shahbaz should go very well, especially if you feel he needed the run at Newmarket last time out in April. He’s off the same mark and his rivals don’t look well handicapped.
