The conditions of this mares’ hurdle sees the likes of the 142-rated Anna Bunina and Party Central only having to give 7lbs to the rest of the field. Gordon Elliott’s four-year-old Media Naranja gets 13lbs. Despite this, the opposition, including Willie Mullins’ Night and Day, have nowhere near that pair’s rating and on all known form, will have to run career bests to match the big two.

The feature hurdle race of the day looks very competitive, but the one that caught my eye was the bottom weight Sacchoandvanzetti who could run well for trainer John Queally. He drops back in trip after running well for a long way at Punchestown, before fading out of contention from the last.
15:55 Saldier
Saldier steps up in trip to 2m 7f and looks well capable of winning this contest. He’s kept the best company most of his racing life over timber and is a former Galway Hurdle winner. Despite being pulled up in a Grade 3 Novice Chase at Naas in March, he did win on debut over fences at Thurles in February.

16:25 Roseys Hollow
Willie Mullins has declared Eabha Grace and Hauturiere in the mares beginners chase over 2m 4f but Jonathan Sweeney’s Roseys Hollow has the potential to be better than either of them.
16:55 Ramillies
The feature race of the day is the Killarney National over 3m 2f where Ramillies tops the weights and is one of four entries for Willie Mullins. Paul Townend rides so that would indicate that he thinks he’s got the best chance of the Closutton quartet.
Stablemate En Beton hasn’t run in over a year but was a fair horse back then. The 3m 2f trip on his first start back mightn’t be ideal though off a mark of 141. Egality Mans is rated 129 and finds it difficult to win while Pont Aval would have to improve on what she’s done of late.
17:25 My Great Mate
There were a couple of Mullins’ entries made in the bumper but just one remained at declaration stage, so Patrick rides the home-bred, My Great Mate who goes well at home.
