Ascot 13:30 – Savvy Knight
He put up a great performance on his return at Kempton, and possibly was a little unlucky late on when he was short of room. Savvy Knight will have no problem switching back to the Turf and doesn’t look badly handicapped especially with Harry Davies taking an extra 3lb off his back.
Lingfield 13:50 – Tothenines
Hasn’t as yet managed to get his head in front from eight races on a synthetic surface, but has placed at a whopping 50 per cent strike rate. Added to that, it’s Tothenines first try at Lingfield today which should suit his run style. He’s very well treated on his best form and reappears on a very lenient looking mark of just 74.
Ascot 14:05 – Timeless Melody
Timeless Melody was having her first try for new connections when reappearing at Leicester 29 days ago. She looked dead in the water with a furlong and a half to run, but rallied strongly to power through the line in the closing stages. This test is going to be right up her street on Ascot’s stiffer track as Team Haggas’s runner is pitched into handicap company.
Lingfield 14:25 – Sacred
Surprisingly, William Haggas’s five-year-old has her first try on a synthetic surface in competitive action. Sacred is a long-sprint specialist over 7f and this looks an ideal opportunity for her to go straight to the winners’ enclosure at Lingfield.
Ascot 14:40 – Perotto
Roger Varian now trains Perotto and looks on a very lenient looking mark of 97. He’s a former Britannia winner up this straight course at Ascot and looks to be ideally drawn in the high numbers. There’s plenty of pace around him and he will get a perfect tow into the contest from Kingdom Come, Rainbow Fire and Tylos who are pacy runners also drawn in the high numbers.

Lingfield 15:00 – Be Happy
The Ballydoyle runner bumped into what could be a potential French superstar in Pensee Du Jour at Saint-Cloud 42 days ago when finishing third. She was surprisingly held up at the back of the pack and made a good ‘middle move’ to get into contention and then wasn’t given a hard time once her winning opportunity had gone. Be Happy must’ve gone well on a synthetic surface at home as Aidan O’Brien lets her take her chance in this Oaks Trial but has taken his runners out of the Derby Trial.
Lingfield 15:35 – Circle of Fire
Sir Michael Stoute’s Circle of Fire who looked really rusty on his return over 10 furlongs at Newmarket. The way he hit the line that day suggested that this test over 1m 4f is very much going to play to his strengths. He will have most to fear from Military Order who comes in off the back of a smooth success at Newbury also over 10f. We look set for an exciting match-up with hopefully the King’s runner coming out on top.
