Horse Racing tips: Ruby Walsh’s top ITV Racing bets on Thursday

Ruby has a hunch that Passenger (14:40) is a name we'll hear a lot more about in the future.

Ruby Walsh’s Racing Tips:

Chester 13:30 – Nymphadora
Chester 14:05 – True Statesman
Chester 14:40 – Passenger
Chester 15:15 – Hamish
Chester 15:45 – City Streak

Chester 13:30 – Nymphadora

The four-year-old Nymphadora had decent form and finished second at Chester before she missed a lot of last season. She should be open to improvement as she’s lightly-raced and the fact that her stable-mate King’s Lynn, a proven Group performer, runs in this handicap means Nymphadora has a little less weight to carry. That could be a bonus after a pipe-opener at Bath last month.

Chester 14:05 – True Statesman

True Statesman catches my eye especially with Ryan Moore booked for Charlie Johnston on his seasonal debut. A previous course winner last season, he’s been gelded over the winter.

Chester 14:40 – Passenger

The Dee Stakes is the second Epsom Derby Trial of the week and Donnacha and Aidan O’Brien are represented with Alder and San Antonio. Aidan’s record speaks for itself, having trained the winner of all bar three of these renewals since 2012. However, I liked what I saw of Passenger who won on debut first time out and Newmarket last month and he seems open to plenty of progression.

Chester 15:15 – Hamish

I’ve been over and back on this race and the one I keep coming back to is Hamish who just keeps getting the job done. The others all have question marks over them but Hamish is just so consistent it’s hard to look past him. He’ll appreciate the cut in the ground too.

Chester 15:45 – City Streak

City Streak for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy is my idea of the winner. His comeback run at Chelmsford should have left him spot on for this assignment. A draw in stall eight isn’t the end of the world and is just 4lb higher than when second to Cormier over course and distance last July.
