Horse Racing tips: An 8/1 NAP tops our picks at Huntingdon today

13:40 – A Definite Getaway

It’s too early to write off Park Hill Dancer but he didn’t find a great deal at the business end of his last two races and will probably need to show greater resolution here. Tentative preference is for A DEFINITE GETAWAY, who was inconsistent last season but ran well on his latest outing. Final Encore will find this much easier than his latest task and still has potential.

14:15 – Parc Damour

Kim Bailey’s PARC DAMOUR found one just too strong on his recent handicap debut at Warwick but there was a big gap back to the third and he has a good chance to gain quick compensation here before a 5lb rise takes effect. I Hope Star has performed well on all three hurdling starts this year and may pose a bigger threat than Odin’s Quest, who comes here after winning a modest maiden.

14:50 – Elios DOr

A Captain Broomfield rid of all that ails him would warrant consideration, likewise Viva Lavilla if the drop to 2m does truly prove transformative. ELIOS DOR has a moderate hurdling effort ten days ago to forgive, but a record of 4-8 in class 4 handicap chases marks this out as a more realistic assignment than when last seen over fences, and he’s preferred to the returning Ragamuffin.

15:25 – Bean Norty

Possible to argue some sort of case for many, but the eye is drawn to BEAN NORTY and Div Ine Tara, both of whom offer seductive cases as likely improvers for the step up to 3m. They’re preferred in that order. Up 3lb but down in grade, Sadie Hill may figure if finding this course as good a fit as Ffos Las; Gaia Vallis remains too well treated to ignore; and Hey Frankie has claims on last summer’s peak placed efforts.

16:00 – Denable (NAP)

Recent course winners Issar D’Airy and William Of York both have plenty of scope for further progress, while Nicky Henderson’s handicap debutant Swapped (second choice) may benefit from today’s step up in trip and is another with potential. However, the suggestion is DENABLE (NAP), who is currently 4lb lower than when clear second to a very well-handicapped rival at Fontwell in the autumn and is due to go back up 2lb for his creditable run at Kempton ten days ago.

16:30 – Im A Starman

It’s no given that Doyens De Ante (second best) will oblige if honouring this engagement in preference to Fontwell the night before, the apparent fairness of his 6lb rise notwithstanding. IM A STARMAN‘s recent Wincanton second in a better race than this has already received a boost from the winner, and this winner on soft ought to cope with any significant rain. Tel’Art’s fair chance will increase if the worst projections of the weather forecast aren’t realised.

17:05 – Montecam

Altior’s half-brother MONTECAM arguably ran a bit better than the bare form suggests when sixth of 17 at Kempton in March and is taken to build on that performance here. Broomhill Road ran very well behind a hot favourite on his Doncaster debut and is second choice but Sir Mark Prescott’s runner Whatawit also looks interesting. Youlneverwalkalone and the selection’s stablemate Lucky Place are newcomers with the right credentials on paper.
