13:20 – Harry Magnus

HARRY MAGNUS had some solid form in the book prior to opening his account at Kempton in January and he produced a big career best when following up on his handicap debut at Newmarket last month. He wore a first-time tongue strap and ran out a very comfortable winner in what looked a competitive handicap beforehand, so he has to be high on the shortlist once more following a 4 lb rise for a yard still in form. Quantum Impact, who won his last two starts last season, may pose the biggest danger, ahead of the consistent Havana Blue.

13:55 – Potapova

POTAPOVA has been highly tried in her career so far and finally put it all together when winning the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown last season, making a sweeping move down the outside and soon in front. She couldn’t quite match that effort in the Joel Stakes at Newmarket on her final start, but she did run creditably, and the winner of that race bolted up at Newmarket on Friday. She sets a good standard back against her own sex and Sir Michael Stoute has made a good start to the season, so there is plenty to like about her chances. Zellie was classy for Andre Fabre in France and is feared most having joined another top stable ahead of her return to action.

14:30 – Rajindri

This doesn’t look like the strongest race of its type for the track and it looks a good opportunity for RAJINDRI to open her account. She was unable to build on the promise of her debut at Wolverhampton last time, but she wasn’t seen to best effect having been poorly placed in relation to the first two, and stayed on to be nearest at the finish. The step up to a mile will be in her favour now making her turf debut and a big run is expected from her under Andrea Atzeni. Bishop’s Crown and One More Wave are a couple of the other more appealing contenders.

15:05 – Farasi Lane

FARASI LANE resumed winning ways with the cheekpieces back on over seven furlongs at Southwell in March, confirming recent promise while leaving the impression he had even more to offer, and he was unlucky not finish closer on his first try at a mile and a quarter at Lingfield last time. He may have gone very close to winning with a clear run, finishing with plenty of running left, and he is well worth backing to gain compensation from the same mark now back on turf. Stay Well has a good record when fresh so is respected on his reappearance for the in-form Hughie Morrison stable.

15:45 – Mark Of Gold

MARK OF GOLD hasn’t run on the Flat since 2021, but he has progressed through the ranks over hurdles in the meantime, winning six times, notably a handicap by 14 lengths at Kempton in February from a mark of 129. That leaves him potentially well treated now back on the level, for a yard bang in form and over a trip he should relish. Capone has a long absence to overcome but goes well fresh and is another who is weighted to have a big say.

16:20 – Simple Man

SIMPLE MAN cost £65,000 at the breeze-ups last year and was a rare juvenile winning debutant for Henry Candy at Nottingham in September. He wasn’t fancied in the betting, but he knew his job, travelling in touch and shaken up to take up the lead in the final furlong and always holding on from the closers. He went backwards from his debut in a listed event at Doncaster on his final start, though the step up to six furlongs in testing conditions may not have been ideal, and he is a horse who remains with potential on his return and handicap debut. Rocking Ends won three times last year and is holding his form well at present, so seems sure to be in the mix again.

17:00 – Johnjay

JOHNJAY didn’t threaten in three starts for Mick Channon last year, but he was much improved following a gelding operation when making a winning start for this yard on his turf and handicap debut at Bath last month. He made good headway out wide and kept on well in the closing stages, suggesting he’ll appreciate this step up in trip. He remains unexposed and is fancied to follow up. I Still Have Faith and Military Tycoon are a couple of the dangers.
