It’s the fillies turn to take centre stage at Newmarket. There are also a couple of other races on ITV from Salisbury and Hamilton.

13:50 – Newmarket: HMS President

Alan King’s charge has had a run performing well at Kempton when narrowly going down in a big handicap. HMS President’s mark has not moved for that run, he has run well at the July course in the past, but I am hoping he can win here with that run already under his belt.

14:05 – Hamilton: Zimmerman

Tim Easterby has got a run into Zimmerman at Thirsk, where he was fully expected to improve. I think with that run under his belt, he has to be a player in a wide open contest.

14:25 – Newmarket: Queen of Fairies

Queen of Fairies is a big girl and was very green when running at Southwell. She put quite a bit of daylight between her and the others and the step up in trip should bring out even more improvement. I take her to have the edge over floating spirit.

14:40 – Salisbury: Mothill

Charlie Hills has his team in very good form and Saratoga Gold would have to to be respected but has been withdrawn, so I have gone for Mothill for Neil Mullhollamd. This son of Golden Horn has been running well over jumps so has fitness on his side. He has not raced on the level in the UK, so could have improved from his flat career in France.

15:00 – Newmarket: Astral Beau e/w

Pam Sly caused a surprise a few years ago when winning the 1000 Guineas with Speciosa. She is not afraid to have a go and Astral Beau looked a big strong type when winning at Doncaster. The ground is not a problem and I’m willing to take a punt on her coping with conditions and running into at least a place.

I liked Al Husn last year but am a little worried that she struggled in the dip when winning over further at the track last year. She is smart and will be one to keep an eye on.

15:40 – Newmarket: Tahiyra

I have just watched back her win in the Moyglare at the Curragh on soft ground and she was really impressive. The obvious concern is has she developed physically over the winter as some of the opposition have thrived in that department and could have caught her up.

Mammas Girl looked a bit of a surprise package when winning the Nell Gwyn. She finished the race off really well though and certainly didn’t look a lucky winner. The fifth horse that day has come out and won a listed race so the form has had a boost.

Dream of Love and Mawj fought out the finish in Dubai and you would think Dream of Love will turn the tables with a clear run.

I have to stick with Tahiyra for master trainer Dermot Weld, however I do think Mammas Girl is a player for Amo racing.
