13:15 – Newmarket – Circle Of Fire

With the stable operating at such a good strike rate, everything Sir Michael Stoute runs has to be taken seriously. Reports are that Ryan Moore rode Circle Of Fire in a piece of work early this season and said he should go on the Derby trial route! He has a fair level of proven form to compete with, so this is a big opportunity to show his Epsom Derby credentials.

    13:50 – Newmarket – Native Trail

The champion two-year-old a couple of seasons back, before finishing runner up in the English 2,000 Guineas and winning the Irish equivalent. His form tailed off a little then in two further runs, but he could easily climb back up to the older horse’s division now, especially as he’s had a wind operation. A win here will see Native Trail shoot to the top of the market for the Queen Anne Stakes at the Royal meeting in June.

    14:05 – Goodwood – Time Lock

She was thoroughly progressive last season and rounded off her campaign with an excellent second at York behind Haskoy, who went on to run an excellent fourth in the St Leger. Given natural improvement, Time Lock is going to be very hard to beat and already is someway clear on official ratings for her return.

      14:25 – Newmarket – Shouldvebeenaring

Shouldvebeenaring was a real money spinner for team Hannon last season. He has continued to collect the cheques so far this year, but got caught out of his ground on a couple of occasions recently and has still managed to run with a huge amount of credit. Majestic Pride looks the one to beat, but he possibly won’t appreciate the quicker surface, unlike the selection.

        14:35 – Goodwood – Clarendon House

He ran a cracking second in this contest, last year when overhauled by a well handicapped runner in the closing stages. Trainer Robert Cowell decides to take a valuable 5lb off his back with Alec Voikhansky aboard now. Clarendon House can pop along up towards the front end and show his class against Reigning Prophet who is jumping up dramatically in grade.

        15:00 – Newmarket – Bass Player

The now four-year-old Bass Player had some very strong form in the early part of last year before it started to taper off and is another who could benefit from a wind operation. His ability to run well fresh is a major positive and the trip, track and ground all look to be in his favour too.

        15:35 – Newmarket – West Wind Blows

He announced himself onto the racing scene with a demolition job up in the Glasgow Stakes Listed contest at Hamilton last season. West Wind Blows then produced a high level of form winning a Group 3 contest in France before an excellent third at Group 2 level. The Irish Derby winner Hurricane Lane will appeal to many, but he looked as if he had lost his mojo on his return at Newbury a fortnight ago. He needs a massive bounce back to cope with West Wind Blows.
