The Eve Johnson Houghton yard has been finding some good form of late and Big R looked a real improver with each run last season. He was seen at his best when stepped up in trip to 6f in a race that has worked out quite well with both first and third coming out and winning since. He’s been gelded and returns at a track the stable tend to do well at. If he’s right fitness wise, he has a great chance.

Redcar 15:25 – Coverdale

1.5 points each-way

Coverdale was ridden last season with handicaps in mind and took a big step forward when last seen by finishing second in a photo off a mark of 71. He’s up in trip which looks sure to suit and while he’s been nudged up 3lbs, he looks a real danger if he’s ready to roll. The Edward Bethell yard are in brilliant form in April and hopefully that can continue.

Salisbury 16:55 – Arthalot

1.5 points each-way

Arthalot has the benefit on having been running over hurdles so he should strip fitter than most of these. His flat form is patchy but the good efforts he’s produced so far would see him right in the mix in this type of field. He’s a winner over this trip and he looks on a dangerous mark. He’s one who should be well suited to this test and should be involved at the finish. A strong pace would help.
