13:30 – Far From A Ruby

This might go to FAR FROM A RUBY, who signalled a return to form with a good all weather run last month and is well handicapped on last summer’s course and distance (C&D) win under Aiden Brookes. None of the others have appealing profiles but last year’s winner Cosa Sara (second choice) and Bulls Aye have both slipped to dangerous marks.

14:00 – Bert Kibbler (NAP)

It’s worth persisting with likely front-runner BERT KIBBLER (NAP), who finished behind Jordan Electrics when a weakening favourite on last month’s turf return but might be seen to better effect on today’s quicker ground and remains attractively weighted on some of his earlier all weather (AW) form. Jordan Electrics is probably better suited by 6f and doesn’t want this to become tactical but is, nevertheless, earmarked as the main danger.

14:35 – Hey Lyla

Charlie Johnston’s filly HEY LYLA is beginning to look exposed after seven runs but she has shown some fairly useful form and appears to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark. Out Of Mischief shaped with promise on her second 2yo start and may fare best of the others but good market support for possible improver Fleur De Mer and/or newcomer Purnika will spice things up a bit.

15:05 – Flylikeaneagle

Alpine Sierra might gain a tactical advantage if allowed his own way in front and Star Shield (second choice) could pose a potent threat from off the pace but FLYLIKEANEAGLE kept on strongly for a clearcut success when back on the Flat at Musselburgh last month and, with 7lb claimer Brandon Wilkie enlisted, is taken to overcome a 6lb rise.

15:40 – Water Of Leith

Our Absent Friends battled well to prevail in a bunch-finish at Newcastle five weeks ago and remains lightly raced but it remains to be seen whether that 5f AW form can be transferred to 6f on turf. He could be worth opposing with WATER OF LEITH, who did very well after rejoining Jim Goldie last year. The topweight has made a quiet start to this season but contests a much easier race today.

16:10 – Berry Edge

Kalahari Prince has looked out of sorts this spring and the only other one to have run this year, My Macho Man, could be on a very tough mark for today’s Flat return. BERRY EDGE signed off with a below-par AW run in the autumn but gets the vote in the hope he is fit enough to replicate the form he showed when placed four times on turf beforehand. Flying Moon, a three-time C&D winner last year, is the most appealing of Mike Smith’s three runners. Jim Goldie’s two mares would both appeal more over further.

16:40 – Lilikoi

The refitted cheekpieces might enable last year’s winner Merricourt to better this spring’s pretty dismal AW form and she is worth keeping an eye on in the betting but the suggestion is LILIKOI, won began the year in good form on the AW and is reunited with capable 7lb claimer Gianluca Sanna for today’s turf return. Judgment Call (second choice) and Novak are others to consider.
