Horse Racing tips: A 5/1 play leads the way at Newcastle tonight

18:00 – Appier

This looks a tricky race as unless Heatherdown Hero makes the running, as he did last time, it could become tactical which would be against some strong pullers. The suggestion is APPIER who was progressive last season and is probably more versatile tactically than several of his main rivals. Wolf Of Oxshott should also go well.

18:30 – Oscar Doodle

Not many come into this in the best of form and the dual course winner OSCAR DOODLE is taken to bounce back after a break following a poor run here in January. Coconut Bay is another worth considering.

19:00 – Inquiring Minds

John Gosden has introduced some smart newcomers here over the years, notably the great Enable, and INQUIRING MINDS is selected to make a winning debut for the yard. His stablemate Boldly and Laser Guided, who should be suited by the step up to 1m2f, are obvious dangers.

19:30 – My Roxanne

There is precious little to split Profitar Rules, Aihawawi and Hidden Code on the strength of their recent course and distance clash, while Goblet of Fire looks interesting on his reappearance for the in-form Nigel Tinkler. However, the suggestion is MY ROXANNE, who although a fortunate winner at Chelmsford recently, has done well to escape even a slight rise and may have further improvement in the locker over this stiff 1m. 

20:00 – Covey

Dancing Cloud is interesting for the future but it’s impossible to look beyond the recent Newmarket scorer COVEY who possesses a bright future and, in all likelihood, will prove himself to be a cut above these rivals. 

20:30 – Exceed

Debydinks has had many chances to break the maiden and, with connections still waiting patiently, this arguably offers as good a chance as any other. However, he could be forced to play second fiddle to Nigel Tinkler’s EXCEED. Of the remainder, Cavalier Approach wouldn’t be a forlorn hope.

21:00 – Spirit Of Bowland

Although this looks quite competitive the in-form course winner SPIRIT OF BOWLAND (NAP) is taken to complete a hat-trick by beating Odd Socks Havana and Rum Runner.
