15:45 – JM JUNGLE

Stripped back to the minimum trip for the first time in six runs and going off an unconsidered 20/1 shot, John Quinn’s charge ran a cracking close up third behind Democracy Dilemma at Thirsk on what was pretty testing ground. With that run behind him and the return to a slightly quicker surface, I fancy that the son of Bungle Inthejungle can give the weight away to the lightly raced Belsito.

16:15 – MOONSTONE BOY

Of the two penalised winners in the field for this novice event, Myconian is readily preferred to East Bank, but neither may be able to give the weight away to Iaine Jardine’s charge. A promising third on his debut over the course and distance, I have marked up that run as he raced on the outer throughout and raced very freely; there is plenty more to come from him.

16:45 – ELLADORA

I am not sure that the likely favourite Mystic Pearl is straight forward and she also looks as though a deeper test of stamina may suit. She makes the market for the rest of the field and the each-way play against the daughter of Calyx could well be the underrated Katie Scott runner. She showed plenty of speed to win over seven furlongs at Southwell, but also a bundle of guts to fight off her rivals when looking likely to be swallowed up at the distance. This requires more, but she is only 2lbs higher and can see off the fav and progressive Elim.

17:15 – KNIGHTSWOOD

Notimeforanother has to prove his effectiveness on turf off a career high mark and although not dismissed lightly he may not be able to defy top weight. The value play here has to be the Johnston runner having been given a real chance by the handicapper here. He has twice run well when fresh and this is an easier task than several of his runs last season. Bottom weight Angel’s Landing is a player following a fair second at Chelmsford last time out.

18:15 – MAYWAKE

This arguably looks the most competitive race on the card, but I give a huge shout to the selection who was a massive eye catcher when finishing off his race really well at Redcar last time out. He was marooned at the back of the pack when the race began about two furlongs out and did well to finish off well for a never nearer third spot, beaten a length and a half. Granted at least some dig in the ground, he looks a massive player as long as he doesn’t lose his race at the start again.

Kevin Ryan’s Lullaby Bay is beginning to look pretty well handicapped following an unplaced effort first time up and any market support should be heeded. My top weight selection was drawn out in the car park in a class two over the course and distance first time out and was never able to garner any cover that day. Ben Curtis has a much better slot to work with this time around and can settle him in mid division before making his play from the two furlong pole and he should go well under his welter burden.
