This looks wide open and it could be worth chancing TYPICAL WOMAN, who made the frame on each of her three visits to this venue in 2022, and now makes her return to action from what looks a potentially lenient mark. Thunder Max has been absent for the best part of a year but he too returns on an appealing mark and will be a danger to all if ready to roll, while Tele Red did well last season and should have a part to play, too.
PAPA COCKTAIL has caught the eye on a couple of occasions and moved through the race stylishly before edging a tight finish at Southwell recently. He best efforts more recently have come on the all-weather, but he was a winner at this course as a juvenile, and he’s worth chancing to follow up after a small rise. Mega Marvel is in good order and looks a danger, while With Respect remains well treated if he turns up in the same mood that saw him score at Southwell 86 days ago.
MAXIDENT could hardly have been more impressive when making a winning debut at Leicester a fortnight ago, handling heavy conditions well and was never challenged, surging away from his rivals in the closing stages to score by a huge margin. His two other rivals failed to give their running, so it is hard to know exactly what he achieved, but he is a horse to view in a positive light and is worth siding with to confirm that impression under what will likely be very different conditions. Gregory has an impeccable pedigree and looks a noteworthy newcomer for top connections, so needs monitoring in the market.
STORMY SEA was easy to back but shaped with plenty of promise on her debut at Kempton in November, pushed along early in the straight but responding well to be beaten only by a potentially smart filly. She was clear of the remainder on that occasion and she looks a sure-fire improver on her return for a yard that have started the season well. She should prove hard to beat, but newcomer Lmay, who represents last year’s winning yard, makes appeal on paper and is feared most ahead of Market Value, who may need a stiffer test.
BOARDMAN has started at big prices both starts this season but he has shaped well, coming on for his reappearance as expected when not disgraced in the Lincoln at Doncaster last time, not really enjoying the rub of the green following an awkward start. He only really got in the clear in the final furlong and could be ready to strike, not far off his last winning mark and he also goes well at this track. Dangers are aplenty in this competitive event, though, with Spycatcher, Rainbow Fire and Witch Hunter perhaps chief amongst them.
Another tricky three-year-old handicap, though ANIMATE still looked a bit rough around the edges when last seen finishing fourth in a competitive nursery at Ayr in September, but appealed as one who was almost certainly ahead of his mark and is taken to make a winning reappearance having been gelded. Racingbreaks Ryder and Deceiver arrive on the back of recent victories and are both highly respected, with Kempton nursery winner Acotango another player on his return.
An ultra-competitive handicap to finish the card which can go the way of SERENITY ROSE, who opened her account in a weak maiden at Wolverhampton in January, but she has some solid form in the book, and may well have more to offer back on turf with an excellent claimer taking off an invaluable 5 lb. Kristal Klear could prove a different proposition now handicapping so she heads up the dangers, with Design, Hat Toss and Fools And Horses another handful to consider.
