13:30 – Ginger Mail

GINGER MAIL took a big step forward when opening his account at Doncaster on his final start last season, and progressed further on his return from eight months off when following up on handicap debut at Ayr in October. He has held his form well since, recording a career-best effort when runner-up back at Ayr last month, and he seems sure to be bang in the mix once again from 4 lb higher now fittled with first-time cheekpieces. The reliable Cuban Cigar bagged a nice prize at Musselburgh last month and is likely to go well again.

14:05 – Concetto

CONCETTO had gone close in points and he proved a totally different proposition when opening his account on his chase and handicap debut at Huntingdon in February, proving totally dominant and having more in hand than the official margin suggests. He showed further improvement when following up again in impressive fashion and, though he met with defeat for the first time in this discipline at Ludlow last time, it was at the hands of another progressive novice. Concetto left the impression he will be suited by this much longer trip and he appeals as one who is still ahead of his mark. Gentleman de Mai is another unexposed sort who’s taken well to fences so rates the main threat.

14:40 – Resplendent Grey

This doesn’t look a strong race and it is an excellent opportunity for RESPLENDENT GREY to follow up his debut win over hurdles. He looked a good prospect when making a winning start in a bumper and he had a fair bit in hand at Wetherby earlier this month, leaving the impression he has more to offer in this sphere. He can concede weight all round at the main expense of Charles St, who has the form to play a big part, but not the potential of the selection.

15:15 – Here Comes The Man

HERE COMES THE MAN cost £210,000 after winning in points and he left his form over hurdles well behind when making a winning start over fences at Newcastle a fortnight ago. He travelled well and was sent for home some way out on his first start at this trip, settling the race between the final two fences. It is hard to think he hasn’t got even more to offer in this sphere and he is a strong fancy to defy an 8 lb rise in the weights. Bridge North also went in at the first time of asking in this sphere at Newbury and is feared most ahead of the handily-weighted Captain Quint.

15:50 – Doyen Breed

DOYEN BREED did well as a novice chaser last season, and he returned to form when runner-up at Kelso in February even though he didn’t seem well suited by a drop back in trip. He did well to even complete his race given the severity of an early error last time, giving further notice that he is working his way back to form, and he has to be taken seriously now fitted with a first-time visor. The Wolf’s long losing run dents confidence for win purpose but he ran well for second at Ludlow last time and can fill the forecast spot again.

16:25 – What A Steal

Tom George has a healthy 22% strike-rate at Perth, so a chance is taken on his WHAT A STEAL, who showed promise at the start of his career and rates a potential improver now handicapping under Brian Hughes in what look an open race. Maillot Blanc ran a solid race at Kelso last month and is also on the shortlist, along with recent Newcastle scorer Chumlee and the Nigel Hawke-trained Watchoutitscookie.

17:00 – Harino Collonges

In a race where few arrive with compelling claims the suggestion is HARIBO COLLONGES, who seemed to have his stamina stretched over 25 furlongs at Carlisle last time, and the form of his Market Rasen third prior to that is solid in the context of this race. The Bandit pieced it all together at Southwell last time and is second choice ahead of Rory And Me, who might have needed the outing last time and the booking of Brian Hughes is a plus.
