13:50 – Legend Of Leros
Four of the quintet are proven on heavy ground, and marginal preference is for the race-fit LEGEND OF LEROS, who won in the mud at Doncaster last autumn, and looked a resolute galloper when third to the well-touted Slipofthepen at Kempton on his return. That will have blown away the cobwebs, and he will relish the stiff home straight here.

14:25 – Adayar
ADAYAR redeemed his reputation last season, his second in the Champion Stakes at excellent effort, and the penalty structure of this race means he gets 5lb from Prix Dollar winner Anmaat, whose yard has yet to strike form this season. Even at around 4/6, the favourite looks overpriced, although heavy ground can throw up odd results.
15:00 – Light Infantry
Mutasaabeq is 3-3 on his first start of the season, so merits respect as the likeliest front runner in what might become a tactical race; Checkandchallenge also goes well fresh, and is pred to relish the ground, making my preference for LIGHT INFANTRY pretty narrow, and one which depends on the form pick returning from a short spell in Australia at the top of his game. His second in the G1 Prix Jacques Le Marois is the best piece of form on offer, but he can’t afford to be rusty against a pair sure to be at concert pitch.

15:35 – Arrest
ARREST has won here and improved when beaten a head in the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud over this trip on his final 2-y-o start. The front two pulled six lengths clear that day, so the form should prove reliable, and Arrest certainly sets an exacting standard if that’s taken at face value.
