Beverley 14:20 – Dandy Dinmont
1.5 points each way
Having watched the race back from a week ago, Dandy Dinmont was massively unlucky and he was blocked in by Ventura Flame before having to be pulled out and running on into third. This race won’t take much winning and he looks to have a great chance of reversing that form. Fitness wise he should be at his peak now and he has the rail draw, which is a massive bonus. He has a good record here and it’s difficult to see him being out of the frame.
Punchestown 15:40 – By Your Side & Gordons Aura
1.5 points each way
By Your Side for Gordon Elliot is turned around quickly after a good third of 13 in a class 3 hurdle at Cheltenham just last week. He’s still a baby who’s open to lots of improvement but it looks like he’s starting to get the hang of things and he’s 6lbs better off than the run last time out. He hasn’t run many bad races at all so far so he has a good chance.
Another Elliot horse who can go well is Gordons Aura, who ran a good race in the Boodles at Cheltenham when only beaten 5 lengths when being well out of the handicap. He gets in here on a much more appealing mark and he’s open to improvement. Conditions look absolutely ideal and he’s a four-year-old against some older rivals.
Beverley 16:00 – Hortzadar
1.5 points each way
Hortzadar started the season off a career low mark last time out at Ripon and ran well into second having been caught a bit further back than he would have liked. He comes here off the same mark and his last win was almost a year ago to the day in a higher grade than this and from an 11lb higher mark. He looks extremely well handicapped in a weak race.
Punchestown 16:15 – Whiskeywealth
1.5 points each way
Whiskeywealth looked to have Dinoblue beaten last time out before falling at the last and handing the race over. He ran well from the front that day before a few jumps cost him late on and if he’s able to tidy up his jumping, he has a big chance. Mike O’Connor is a 5lb claimer on board and that makes him dangerously well handicapped and with Dinoblue being raised 7lbs for his win, Whiskeywealth is 4lbs better off today.
Punchestown 17:25 – Asterion Forlonge
1.5 points each way
This is a cracking race and although I am sweet on Monkfish after the comeback, the price has gone a bit and Asterion Forlonge has looked much better back over hurdles. Some of his best work has been seen at the track having won here in two valuable races. At the prices, he’s a great bit of value given he’s double the odds of Monkfish. We know he is going to get the three miles too.
