I’m going to go with Nikini over Night And Day, even though Paul Townend is siding with the latter. It didn’t go to plan at Cheltenham and I fancy her to bounce back here. She finished second at Down Royal in November and that form ties in with The Model Kingdom, who reopposes here.
16:15 – Facile Vega
I’m with Facile Vega. Without the mistake at the last, he’d have been an even better second behind Marine Nationale in the Supreme at Cheltenham. Found A Fifty will go a good gallop and that should suit Facile Vega. I’m not giving up on him being a really good horse. Il Etait Temps could follow him home.
16:50 – Tekao
I struggle to see Tax For Max winning and Tekao is the pick of Willie Mullins’ runners. I’m going to forgive his run in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham, although Merlin Giant is an obvious threat.
17:25 – Energumene
Energumene is in really good form and the weather will suit him. He’s hard to oppose. The ground should be slow and that will help Energumene beat Gentleman De Mee.
18:00 – Predators Gold
Based on work at home, Patrick has gone for Predators Gold. He seems to be the sharpest and he goes well at home but this race looks wide open. Predators Gold would be a really tentative pick but I’ll probably just watch this.

18:35 – Classic Getaway
This is a tough race to call. Willie has Sir Gerhard, Classic Getaway, Appreciate It and James Du Berlais. I’ll chance Classic Getaway, who hasn’t ran since his win at Gowran Park in November. He hasn’t got the Cheltenham and Fairyhouse miles on the clock like the others.
19:45 – Ninth Loch
Willie has Ninth Loch, who is making his debut. He shows plenty of speed at home so we’re just hoping he stays.
