13:40 – Eclair DAinay

Preference is for Dan Skelton’s very useful chaser ECLAIR D’AINAY, who was an easy winner of a novice hurdle on his penultimate run and is a major player back in this sphere. The main threat could come from triple course winner Bingoo, who made it 2-4 over hurdles with his clearcut win in a C&D handicap last month. Another dual hurdle winner Rock Hurley looks interesting on his best form in France but he needs to bounce back after a disappointing effort on his British debut last month.

14:15 – Patagonia

Plenty have possibilities in this open race. Course specialist Cudgel coped really well with his big drop back in trip here last month and he’s a big player in his bid for a C&D double. Recent Carlisle winner Going Mobile is respected off his revised mark, while Buddari also makes the shortlist along with the returning Ensel Du Perche. However, the vote goes to Gary Hanmer’s unexposed chaser PATAGONIA, who rallied well to go very close at Wetherby on his return from a layoff and is open to more progress.

14:50 – Jersay Du Trottet

In what looks a particularly tricky race a chance is taken on the ex-French JERSAY DU TROTTET, who should improve on his third at Newcastle last time. There are a plenty of dangers, including hurdles newcomer Prontoanita, Wetherby faller Joker Du Chenet and the previous winners Bois Guillbert and Tintintin.

15:25 – Maid Of Houxty

Preference is for the lightly raced 8yo MAID OF HOUXTY (nap), who got off the mark with a brave win over a clear second at Newcastle last month and a 3lb rise for that success looks fair. The main danger is Ex S’Elance, who has won both his points and made it 2-4 over regulation fences when scoring off a similar mark last time. Henry Brown has been placed in his last three runs and has each-way claims again, while others who could be dangerous are Morozov Cocktail and Sir Apollo.

16:00 – Burrows Hall

In an open-looking handicap the progressive BURROWS HALL is taken to follow up his Carlisle win. Longstone Cowboy, Moonlight Glory and Maughold Head are likely to run well.

16:35 – Drop Flight

This should be a good opportunity for DROP FLIGHT, who was pulled up in the Aintree Foxhunters’ 11 days ago but holds standout claims on his earlier hunter chase form. Last month’s Warwick winner Firak is second choice ahead of Carlisle scorer Billy Bronco.

17:07 – Ismael

An interesting race in which the vote goes to ISMAEL, who is out of a half-sister to a bumper winner and was bought for £130,000 after his easy Irish point win in January. Boldog sets a fair standard on his best form and he’s feared most, ahead of the recent bumper winners Chance The Robin and Rob Roy Macgregor. The Sue Smith-trained Paddy O’Mahler also enters the reckoning along with Parade Away, who was runner-up in his sole point and represents a yard with a 30% record in bumpers this season.
