The Class 3 Howden Supporting West Berkshire Mencap Handicap Chase (16:33) tops the bill at Newbury as Rath Gaul Hill returns to the track from a 315-day absence looking to complete a hat-trick but his four rivals include C&D scorer The Famous Five. Elsewhere on the card, last term’s Aintree Grade 2 bumper winner Horaces Pearl attempts to make it two from two over timber in the “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle (15:58).
It is All-Weather Championships Trials Day at Lingfield and Witch Hunter, who won at Royal Ascot in 2023 and was placed in two Group 1s last term, is the start of the show in the finale, the Class 2 AWC Mile Trial Handicap (17:20).
There is also Jumps action at Ffos Las and all-weather meetings in the evening at Dundalk and Southwell.
