This looks a perfect starting point for the former Irish derby and St Leger winner Hurricane Lane. Last season was a bit of a throw out and we only saw him on two occasions. Reports from headquarters are that he is working well ahead of his return and this can be the start of a productive older campaign for the Godolphin runner.
Bridestones may well make up into an Oaks filly later on but the fact that the John and Thady Gosden team decide to dip their toe into one of the registered trials early on suggests she has been showing plenty of speed. It was a straightforward success on her racecourse debut, posting a pretty tidy rating and this is not the strongest renewal.
Knight looked really good on his racecourse debut and bettered that on his second try over this course and distance when winning the Horris Hill. The Simon and Ed Crisford yard have been somewhat unlucky with some close second place finishes in top level races of late and he can bring about a welcome change of luck when lowering the colours of last season’s Dewhurst winner Chaldean, who is currently vying for favouritism in the 2000 Guineas market.
Although Lattam only managed to win by a very small margin over in Ireland, he looks sure to progress and could’ve won much more comfortably had he seen daylight earlier on. He’s going to sit at the top of the market and he picks himself.
Toimy Son is a bigger each-way pick and he was supported at big odds for his run at Doncaster and the fact that former champion jockey Oisin Murphy has been booked says they are expecting a big run. He could slip under the radar at decent odds.
