SHOULDVEBEENARING picked up some big money last season and has set off really well in three races on the all weather so far. He was arguably unlucky at Lingfield and then bumped into a real rocket ship in Desert Cop at Newcastle. This test over 6 furlongs, with some slight easing the ground will suit.
This is a contest where some of the biggest stables like to flex their muscles as to the potential strength of their three-year-old performers. Andrew Balding’s NEW BUSINESS looks particularly strong in that department this season and the trainer is operating at a 25 per cent strike rate this campaign so far.
Although CREATIVE FORCE has gone a few races without managing to get his head in front, it’s the level of competition that he has been keeping which is striking in this lineup. His last seven races have all been up at the highest level, and he sits towards the top of the market for that reason. He appears to hold a clear class edge on his return and avoids carrying any penalty for his Group 1 win.
MOSTABSHIR looked very good on his racecourse debut when producing a tidy change of gear late on despite pulling quite hard in the early stages. He needs to take a massive step forward on the figures, however. The team are not known for throwing them in at Group level for no reason and he must be high up the pecking order. He is currently 25/1 for the 2,000 Guineas with Paddy but will shorten dramatically if he gets the job done here.
