Newmarket 13:50 – Majestic Pride

He made a big step forward from his racecourse debut over this course at Chelmsford on his second try, winning with any amount in hand down over the long sprint of 7 furlongs. Majestic Pride is going to be much better as he steps up in distance throughout this campaign and he holds a couple of fancy entries later in the season. He will need to be impressive on his return if he’s going to take up any of those engagements later on for the Charlie Appleby yard.

Newmarket 14:25 – Spirit of Light

Seemed to get caught out by the slow pace when an excellent second on his return appearance in Scotland. He had previously been racing on very quick conditions over in Dubai, but the slight ease in the ground didn’t prove a problem. You would imagine Spirit of Light can improve with a stern test of stamina on this more galloping track. He’s not been with the Ian Williams yard very long so there is room for ore improvement.

Newmarket 15:00 – Outbreak

Has been luckless on both occasions since winning really easily three starts ago and is due a change of fortune. Outbreak got hammered at the gates at Wolverhampton and he was posted widest of all last time when run out of it over further. He’s dropping back in trip now to the mile and switched to the turf, can rove his recent form all wrong for Charlie Johnston.

Newmarket 15:35 – Masekela (each-way)

Let’s hope the dead eight line-up as Masekela rates a decent-each way opportunity to hit the first three on his return to action. Blue Trail and Ottoman Fleet bring recent solid Dubai form to the table and will be fit on their return to the UK. The selection has been gelded and put up some very solid performances over distances that probably stretched him last season. This 9 furlong trip looks ideal.
