13:40 – Jimmy Chou Pecos Aa

JIMMY CHOU PECOS AA showed ability on his sole start in bumpers and also made an encouraging start over hurdles when finishing runner-up in a big-field maiden at Downpatrick in December. He was a short-priced favourite to go one place better on his next start at Navan last month, but didn’t manage to improve over a longer trip. The manner in which he travelled through that contest suggests he will have no problem dropping back to this trip and he sets a good standard on form in this field. Ballyporeen, who was a wide-margin winner at Musselburgh last time, can pose the main threat.

14:15 – Lissen To The Lady

LISSEN TO THE LADY won this race 12 months ago from an 8 lb lower mark and she arrives in excellent form having won on her last two starts at Hexham. She proved better than ever on her latest success 18 days ago, again given a patient ride and finding plenty in the closing stages to beat a next-time-out winner. She has built up a good rapport with this rider and a subsequent 4 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to prevent a hat-trick. Coniston Clouds is also on the up and feared most with this longer trip another positive, while the handily-weighted Topkapi Star is also respected.

14:45 – Wheres Hector

WHERES HECTOR remains a maiden, but he is a consistent sort on the whole, and has filled the runner-up spot on six occasions. The latest of those came at Wetherby 17 days ago, running his best race to date to be denied only a head by one who had fallen to a dangerous mark. A less-than-fluent jump at the last was probably the difference and, though he has gone up 3 lb since, this race doesn’t look any deeper, and he can deservedly open his account. Azof des Mottes and Fever Roque head the list of dangers.

15:20 – Domandlouis

Fresh from another Grand National win on Saturday Lucinda Russell can taste more success with DOMANDLOUIS here. He won a novice hurdle at this track in May last year and fared better than previously over fences when finishing runner-up at Musselburgh last month, ridden more patiently than the all-the-way winner but pulling well clear of the remainder. The handicapper has left him on the same mark since and, for all he is 1 lb out of the handicap, he arrives with more potential than his rivals, and he is taken to go one place better now. Marown, who shaped like a return to this trip would suit when second at Carlisle last time, can pose the biggest threat.

15:55 – Animore

ANIMORE ran well in a handicap that has worked out well in February, and resumed winning ways in good style at Ayr last month, blitzing her rivals for speed to belatedly take advantage of a falling mark. She is still feasibly treated following a 7 lb rise and should take plenty of stopping. Next on the list is Atlantic Dancer, who arrives here on the back of a couple of solid efforts at Uttoxeter, while Rae des Champs will be a threat if she puts her best foot forward.

16:30 – Inviction

This isn’t a very inspiring race and, INVICTION, who was a fair hurdler for Joseph O’Brien in the 2020/21 season, should prove tough to beat. He has won in points since and, though he fell on his latest start, this isn’t a strong race he is making his hunter chase debut in. Ballydonagh Boy has had plenty of success in points since last seen under Rules and looks the main danger.

17:05 – Speed Davis

SPEED DAVIS fetched £105,000 after landing a maiden point in December and he is certainly one of the more interesting candidates in this contest. The hint should be taken if the market speaks in his favour representing a yard that do well in this sphere. Hierachy is greatly respected and is likely to be on the premises. However, stablemate Master Bricklayer ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and he is second choice.

17:40 – Carrideen Kali

CARRIGEEN KALI has made the frame on her last two starts, faring best of those held up when fourth at Carlisle last time, and sets the standard on form in this field, so she could be ready to open her account this time around. Lune de La Mer showed encouragement amidst greenness at this course and distance on his Rules debut and is feared most, ahead of point-winner Lisnamult Lad.
