Our Power

Timeform provide their 1-2-3 for Saturday’s Grand National and also highlight a couple at bigger prices who could run well.

Delta Work

Delta Work is a five-time Grade 1 winner and he proved last season that he still retains plenty of ability by winning the Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival before finishing third in the Grand National.

Delta Work was ultimately beaten more than 20 lengths behind Noble Yeats and Any Second Now, but he ran much better than that result would suggest, paying the price for a big effort to get back in contention after a couple of early mistakes put him on the back foot.

He meets the first two from last year on much better terms and he warmed up for this in style by winning the Cross Country for the second year in succession, picking up strongly after the final obstacle and proving game to beat stablemate Galvin.

He is bidding to emulate legendary former stablemate Tiger Roll who won the Grand National for Gordon Elliott in 2018 and 2019 after winning the Cross Country Chase.

Corach Rambler

Corach Rambler has a clear chance at these weights as he is able to run off the same mark that he defied in the Ultima Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Corach Rambler was winning that competitive handicap for the second year in succession and produced a career-best effort in the process, winning with much more in hand than the margin of a neck would suggest after idling badly once in the lead.

The way he quickened to hit the front was striking, though, and he could still be capable of better over fences.

His hold-up style means that he’ll always needed a bit of luck, but these connections managed to pull it off with One For Arthur in 2017.

Le Milos

Le Milos looks the pick of the British contenders here having made a positive start since joining Dan Skelton.

Le Milos scored in style at Bangor on his first start for Skelton in November and then followed up in the competitive Coral Gold Cup at Newbury a couple of weeks later, showing a willing attitude to land a race which has proved to be a strong piece of form.

He was beaten on his Grand National prep at Kelso last month, but he shaped well, trading at a very short price in running after going clear only to tie up close home having been sent on a long way out.

His jumping and high cruising speed should stand him in good stead at Aintree and he could still be capable of better for this yard.

Vanillier

Vanillier made little impact over shorter trips earlier in the season but he ran up to his very best when upped in trip at Fairyhouse last time, getting to within half a length of Kemboy despite giving that multiple Grade 1 winner 8 lb.

Kemboy – who has recently been retired – may have been past his best, but it was still a notable effort from Vanillier who closed all the way to the line in encouraging style with this much stiffer test in mind.

It’s worth remembering that he won the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle a couple of seasons ago and he could be on a handy mark.

Our Power

Our Power has already won a couple of valuable prizes this season and shouldn’t be underestimated here.

He won at Ascot on his seasonal reappearance in October and then posted an even better effort to land the Coral Trophy on his return from four months off at Kempton in February, finding plenty to lead on the run-in, with the front two well clear of the third.

He has stamina to prove on his first go at a marathon trip but, able to race off the same mark as at Kempton, he is clearly well weighted here despite being 2 lb out of the handicap.
