Horse Racing tips: Mick Fitzgerald’s fine Fairyhouse fancies on Monday

It's Irish Grand National day and Mick has a pick for every race at Fairyhouse.

Mick Fitzgerald’s horse racing tips:

*All prices are bang up to date with our snazzy widgets, while odds in copy are accurate at time of publishing but subject to change.

14:05 – Star Harbour

Adrian McGuinness has had some real success on the Flat recently with Group 1 winners in France and Dubai but this is his chance to strike on a big card and Star Harbour is a lively candidate who finished eighth in the Irish Lincoln and not beaten all that far.

He runs off a Flat rating of 92 whereas his jump rating is only 116. It was a good run at Leopardstown last time and this looks the perfect fit for him to start the day well for us.

14:40 – Blood Destiny

I was disappointed with the run of Blood Destiny at Cheltenham but I feel this race may fit better. He looks like he’s much happier when bowling along. He was restrained at Cheltenham and it didn’t suit him. This looks a better proposition.

15:15 – Unanswered

Tony Martin had a winner at the Cheltenham Festival and he is no stranger to the winners enclosure at this track. He would love to have a winner at his local and it was a good run from Unanswered at Navan last time out which should set him up for this.

15:50 – Asterion Forlonge

Paul Townend will probably be happier riding Asterion Forlonge over hurdles. This is a hard race to get a handle on because so many of these have been chasing and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise to see the horse down the bottom, HMS Seahorse, outrun his odds.

He has a little to find with the ratings but he was very fancied at Cheltenham. I have plumped for Willie Mullins charge Asterion Forlonge as he is atop the ratings.

16:20 – Easy Game

French Dynamite has run some good races and ran a cracker in the Ryanair. He was in front of Janadil on that occasion and he is a great jumper. Easy Game has won this race for the last two seasons. He has a penalty to carry but he is an admirable contender who has got his jumping together now and is a worthy favourite.

17:00 – Stumptown, Thedevilscoachman, Panda Boy

Gavin Cromwell’s Stumptown was so unlucky at Cheltenham when getting beaten by Angels Dawn in the Kim Muir. The 8lb turnaround in the weights will definitely help and the locally trained Stumptown can win for Luke Dempsey. Thedevilscoachman is a novice and historically they have a good record. Noel Meade would love to win this contest and in Thedevilscoachman, he has the perfect contender and he’s a worthy favourite. Panda Boy looks to be a better horse on a sound surface so the forecast rain is far from ideal for Martin Brassil’s contender.

17:40 – Sir Bob

It could be a good day for owner JP McManus and this Robert Tyner-trained gelding Sir Bob ran a blinder in a decent contest at Navan recently and gets the vote on the back of that.

18:10 – Fascile Mode

There was reasons for Fascile Mode‘s ordinary run at Cheltenham as he got kicked at the start. He’s much better judged on a very good run at Leopardstown before that.
