Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
Provided he takes well to first-time headgear, DIRTYOLDTOWN may be the answer. He has a promising record on slow ground and his good effort at last year’s St Leger meeting is a strong piece of form. Baltimore Boy, who has an attractive profile, is feared most ahead of Isla Kai, Broken Spear, Harswell Duke and last year’s winner Arthur’s Realm. The Gatekeeper and Tropez Power are well treated if transferring their AW form back to turf, while Zozimus needs a close look on his debut for new connections.
Real Stone managed to win at Ffos Las in January, despite a very sketchy round of jumping, and could be very hard to beat if he gets into a better rhythm here. However, preference is for BLACKJACK MAGIC, who beat a progressive mare in pretty good style at Exeter in January and is only 3lb higher here. Lord Of Kerak is respected after his good recent effort, while the other two are unexposed and add further interest.
Due to rail movements this is being run over approximately 324 yards further than the official race distance. Despite the numbers, positive profiles are thin on the ground and this could go to LAMANVER BEL AMI on her first run for Joe Tizzard. She has won on the last two occasions she has returned from a significant absence. The Nicky Henderson-trained Propelled is feared most, with Dedanser another to consider.
They are not the only ones of interest but this may well be between SIMPLY SONDHEIM and Chantico. The latter has potential, a useful pedigree and looks unexposed after his novice win but last season’s prolific winner Simply Sondheim is well worth this second attempt beyond 1m2f. Candy Shack is third on the list, making only her fourth appearance.
