An interesting maiden to open with and ability to handle the ground is an unknown in a lot of cases. That is not the case though with RUN RAN RUN (NAP) who was touched off in a Curragh maiden in October and should be good enough. Desert Haven is one of the likelier ones to cause danger.
Magical Vision won a heavy ground handicap here in November on just her third start and the best is probably still to come from her. Slight preference though is for HALF NUTZ, who can be frustrating but could show the benefit of a nice effort on his stable debut at Dundalk.
Not many of these make that much appeal. Senado Square could be the most progressive in the race but doubts remain about the ground, while similar doubts are present about Dundalk winner Not Too Real Bad. The safest play might be top-weight LISIEUX, a nursery winner over 6f here last year off a 6lb lower mark.
Plenty here with chances, with both Chazzesme and Facethepuckout at the bottom of the handicap having obvious chances. It could be worth taking a chance though with VOCAL STUDIES who showed his liking for trip and ground at Galway in October and could be a nice price.
Having made major progress from his first to second starts, PADDINGTON could take another leap forward for this task on his way to pattern company. His stablemate Londoner is respected, while Imadpour will revel in the conditions and should be involved.
Though he has a 3lb penalty to carry, SELF BELIEF still retains potential after just three starts and is taken to make a winning reappearance. Sunchart would prefer further but handles this ground and is fit from hurdling, so is a danger. Martinstown is a fascinating runner but might just need this outing.
Though this testing ground tempers enthusiasm somewhat, RED RIDING HOOD looks an obvious pick based on her promising debut at Ascot last season. Her well-bred stablemate Jackie Oh has to be considered, along with Paris Review. The market can be helpful.
Despite being hassled in front SERIOUS CHALLENGE still ran a fine race behind Auguste Rodin in a Group 2 last season and can get back to winning ways today. Zoinnocent looks to be his chief rival, though her ability to handle this ground has to be taken on trust.
