LARGY SHARK didn’t progress as expected in bumpers having shown plenty of ability on his debut, but he looked a good prospect when making a winning start over hurdles at Ayr in November, racing wide throughout and getting the job done with a fair bit in hand. He had the race sewn up approaching the last before quickening away in style and, while his absence since is a slight concern, he should have plenty more to offer. Giovinco also has much better days ahead of him judged on his facile success at the same track so rates a big threat.
14:25 – Rocco Storm
ROCCO STORM is enjoying a good season, winning three of his last five starts, but he was easy to back and turned in a disappointing effort on his final start at Ayr at the beginning of last month. He has undergone another breathing operation since and, given his overall profile, he may be worth chancing to bounce back from what still looks a fair mark. Gandhi Maker is a likeable type who arrives in top form, so he is feared most.
15:00 – Esme Shelby
ESME SHELBY remains a maiden and has a few seconds next to her name, but there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with her attitude, bumping into one on a fair mark who was on a going day at Uttoxeter last time. She saw her race out better than has been the case in the past back in trip, though, and a similar performance may be good enough here in what doesn’t look a strong race. Sawpit Sienna, who arrives in very good nick, should also go well again.
15:35 – Fever Roque
FEVER ROQUE was steadily progressive over hurdles and he is holding his form well so far over fences, finishing runner-up for the second time in a row at Wetherby earlier this month. He battled well that day but had no answer for a well-handicapped sort who returned to form, so it wasn’t a bad effort, and his rider can now claim his 5 lb allowance. He seems sure to launch another bold bid with If Not For Dylan and Knocknamona also respected.

16:10 – Sadlers Bay
The pick of SADLERS BAY‘s form reads well and he wasn’t disgraced on his return from 11 weeks off in a two and a half mile handicap at Market Rasen a fortnight ago. He shaped as though that trip is a bare minimum for him, though, so seems sure to relish the extra five furlongs he faces today, and he has the ability to win a race of this nature from his current mark. Piaff Bubbles is going the right way and shouldn’t be dismissed, while Shantou Moon can do better himself at this sort of trip.
16:45 – Duke Of Deception
DUKE OF DECEPTION has shown improved form since switched to fences and fitted with cheekpieces, building on previous promise when opening his account in this sphere at Musselburgh last month. That wasn’t a strong race, but he still did it nicely, leading on the bridle three from home and drawing clear from there. A subsequent 2 lb rise in the weights looks very lenient indeed and he is a strong fancy to follow up. Court At Slip took his record in this sphere to three wins from just five starts recently so he could well emerge as the main danger.
17:18 – Carrigeen Kali
CARRIGEEN KALI left her debut form well behind when hitting the frame in a decent race at Ayr last time and that form sets the standard. She has the potential to take another step forward now and, provided none of the newcomers are above average, she is entitled to go close. Foxwood, who was second at Catterick on debut, is also respected, while Reggae de Baune is the pick of the newcomers.
