13:30 – Newbury – Inneston

ITV Saturday gets under way here with a novices’ handicap hurdle over 2m3f. This is wide open. INNESTON is up 7lb for a defeat last time but it was in a hugely competitive race at Sandown behind my blog pick that day Crambo who did us a right turn. The Gary Moore runner still has improvement to come and started at the right end of the weights so might be able to cope with the rise under Jamie Moore.

13:50 – Kelso – Coral Blue

ITV also go to Kelso Saturday for this handicap hurdle over 2m5f. CORAL BLUE is on the hat-trick and might just be able to get it up after a fine success at Ayr last time. The Sean Bowen-ridden eight-year-old, trained by Daragh Bourke, has now won three out of his last five starts and is improving all the time. Seems to show a great attitude.

14:05 – Newbury – Riders Onthe Storm

Here’s a handicap chase over 2m4f. Another tough race. RIDERS ON THE STORM could pick this lot up and carry them if at a peak but it’s just guesswork if he will be here. He’s on the same mark as when defeating Hitman and Ga Law at Aintree this term and distance and going are no issue. It’s just if he turns up for Gavin Sheehan and Richard Hobson.

14:25 – Kelso – Theme Tune

Another handicap hurdle over 3m2f. THEME TUNE stays very well and is another who could get a hat-trick up this time for Bruce Lynn, who claims 3lb, and Nick Alexander. Two wins at Haydock and Newcastle show this horse to be in fine form and his handicap mark still seems workable off 122.

14:40 – Newbury – Great Snow (each-way)

Up in class here for a Grade 2 mares’ novices’ limited handicap hurdle over an extended 2m4f. GREAT SNOW is interesting each-way here for Sam Twiston-Davies and Neil Mulholland. The six-year-old has taken a bit of time to get things together but won well at Ludlow last time over 3m. Clearly this trip is no issue and a mark of 110 seems reasonable to me.

Tritonic (L) Adrian Heskin Newbury January 23, 2021

15:00 – Kelso – Bonttay

Now we have a mares’ novices’ handicap hurdle over 2m. Hard not to give a great chance here to BONTTAY who was a decent runner-up at Market Rasen last time having scored at short odds at Exeter. He remains on a mark of 110 and really should be able to go close off that rating for Paddy Brennan and Fergal O’Brien.

15:10 – Meydan – Real World (each-way)

ITV are also showing some of the Dubai action from Meydan Saturday starting with this Group 1 Dubai Turf over 1m1f. REAL WORLD is a massive price here for a horse with his ability and might surprise for Oisin Murphy and Saaeed bin Suroor. The former Daniel Wildenstein hero was poor here when last seen but he does have black class. I’ll risk he’s ready and have a few quid on each-way.

15:35 – Kelso – Clonguile Way (each-way)

Now handicap chase over 3m2f. CLONGUILE WAY is a very strong stayer and must have each-way claims on his second to Flower of Scotland here in December. That was off as mark of 114 and he’s now on 125 after a good effort at Punchestown. But he should still run a big one.

16:00 – Meydan – Equinox

ITV are also on board for the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic over 1m4f. EQUINOX is hard to oppose in a cracking renewal. The Japanese runner was brilliant in the Arima Kinen last time and gets Christophe Lemaire on board at a track he knows well. Stays well and has all the class.

16:35 – Meydan – Panthalassa

The big one on the Flat in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup over 1m2f on the dirt track. Country Grammar could easily outstay this lot again but PANTHALASSA beat him in the Saudi Cup and might well do so again with an easy lead. The Japanese raider is a solid Group 1 horse back home and runs this track well. Hard to catch for Yutaka Yoshida and trainer Yoshito Yahagi.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
