13:30 Newbury – Inneston
Inneston beat Irish Point in a bumper last season in France and he had a bit of a reputation as a result but he was only third on his hurdles debut at Newbury behind stablemate Jupiter Du Gite and Klitschko. The form has worked out with Klitschko, Space Voyage and Hourvari doing plenty to frank it.
He was narrowly beaten at Fontwell in a novices hurdle but that was a decent race for the track. He got off the mark on his handicap debut at Sandown off a mark of 111 when really well backed and he ran a cracker in the EBG Final at Sandown off 117 when only nailed late by Crambo.
He’s gone up 7lb but a mark of 124 is still workable if the race hasn’t taken an edge off him.
13:50 Kelso – Limerick Leader (each way)
Limerick Leader won his novice hurdle on this card last year on his only previous start at the track. He’s been running well enough in handicaps since without winning but his mark dropped from 108 to 100 before a close second at Ayr two weeks ago. He got 3lbs but he has a decent each way chance.
14:05 Newbury – Numitor
A flat track and soft ground suits Numitor. Last season he won at Wetherby off 125 and was second to Il Ridoto (15lbs higher now) at Newbury both over two miles and then won as he liked at Doncaster over 2m3f on soft ground, winning by 20l off 131. He finished last season with a second to Corran Cross at Haydock over 2m4f.
He hasn’t shown much in two starts this season before a fair run at Warwick last month after a two month break and getting a wind op. He’s now dropped from 142 at the start of the season to 135 and there is a chance he gets his own way in front.
14:25 Kelso – Inis Oirr
Inis Oirr was well beaten in a handicap hurdle here in December off a mark of 113 and runs off 122 but went off the 2/1 favourite that day. He beat Outlaw Peter (getting 8lbs) in Musselburgh on better ground next time and Outlaw Peter has won twice since, including in a handicap at Kempton off 130.

14:40 Newbury – Passionate Pursuit
Noel Williams’ runner Moviddy has to be taken seriously but I like Passionate Pursuit for Alan King. She was fourth in a bumper at Chepstow on his rules debut behind Lime Avenue, shaping like the second best horse when weakening late as if the run was needed. She won a cracker at Wincanton on hurdles debut when beaten a neck by Ebonello with Rosy Redrum back in third.
It looked like she was going to win when she unseated two out at Wincanton in a race Endless Escape won. Endless Escape was an excellent seventh in the Mares Novice at Cheltenham last week, after winning her next two after Wincanton. She was given a two month break and ran at Market Rasen last time shaping like she might have needed it a touch. Going up in trip and softer ground might suit and her mark could be very fair.
15:00 Kelso – Jane Du Berlais (each way)
Jane Du Berlais beat Bonttay under a length in Lingfield off level weights in December and she gives Bonttay a pound. There’s no disgrace in finishing third at Wetherby beaten 6l under a penalty behind Ruby Island, who looks a useful mare. JJ Slevin takes the ride and she looks to have a decent each way chance.
15:35 Kelso – Hill Sixteen
Hill Sixteen has had a wind operation and his two runs this season were an excellent third behind Sounds Russian here in October over this trip and he was then a fair seventh in the Becher off 145. He could be working back from the National and might need this but he is one of the more solid ones.
