I never won the Irish Lincoln as a jockey and this year’s renewal is as competitive as ever. In contrast to what we’ve seen over jumps, there’s actually a couple of English challengers declared from the William Haggas and George Boughey stables.
Totally Charming is among the market leaders and reigning Irish champion Flat jockey Colin Keane has been booked to ride from stall 22 by Boughey while Chris Hayes rides Lattam for Haggas and was handed the box 24 draw.

However, the ground will be testing for the first day of the Irish Flat racing season and Joseph O’Brien’s Good Heavens (drawn in stall 11) was last seen running over hurdles in Grade 3 company when fourth to Irish Point. Stamina should not be an issue.
The four-year-old put in a very good run in the Irish Cambridgeshire last season when a neck second to stablemate Federal and even though that was on better ground there could be some juice in is price.
Mick Halford’s & Tracy Collins’ new Conyngham Lodge operation saddle two runners in Inchturk and Cosmic Vega. The latter has good form on a soft surface and lines up here from stall 27 with Ronan Whelan booked to ride under the veteran pilot Niall McCullagh from stall 13.
One who hasn’t quite made the final cut is Andy Slattery’s Smooth Tom. He’s the third reserve so will need three of these to drop out. If they do and he gets a run, he’s at the foot of the weights, won over 10f at the Curragh last season and could be a nice price to hit the places at least.
