The Godolphin Mile kicks things off on Saturday and dirt form can be hard to rate sometimes but Bathrat Leon won this race last year and he’s got a decent draw in stall eight. He’s in the form of his life. He looks the one to beat.
Saturday will be a big night for the Japanese and Subjectivist returns to action. He should be better for his recent run in February and he could go well but I’m going to side with Global Storm for Charlie Appleby with James Doyle on board. The step up to 2m will suit and he’s got a decent draw. He could be a value pick.
Aiden O’Brien has won this race three times in the past and he’s got the favourite Cairo. You’ll know in the first 50 yards whether he’s going to win or lose. If he’s slow out, he’s not coming home first. Worcester is an interesting runner and he could take him on but Cairo is the class angle.
Lord North has won this twice but I like Danon Beluga for Joao Moreira and Noriyuki Hori. I used to work with Noriyuki in Japan and he’s a high-class trainer. Danon Beluga has decent Japanese form and he’s dropping back down in trip which should suit.
It’s very hard to see beyond Equinox. He’s in a different class to the rest of these, even though there’s top runners such as Westover and Mostahdaf. He’s the best Japanese four-year-old in training and he’ll be hard to beat.
