This maiden hurdle isn’t the strongest of races with most of the field coming here in poor form following plenty of races this season. MISTER TWIST gets the vote for Philip Fenton and Niall Moore and should go close to breaking his maiden tag having ran well here earlier this month. The son of Yeats finished fourth on that occasion and should improve for the step-up in trip and the use of first-time blinkers.
The classy Bachasson returns to the track following a long absence as Willie Mullins looks to secure a sixth successive victory in this conditions chase. It is encouraging that connections have kept him in training considering he owes them nothing following many victories in his long career. The champion trainer is no stranger at getting horses back after breaks, but MY DESIGN (in the betting without) market should run well.
Declan Queally’s runner has the younger legs and is fit following several good runs this season. She ran well behind Shewearsitwell and Teahupoo over hurdles and made a promising start to her career over fences with victory here over course and distance earlier this month. Bachasson is the horse to beat but Kieran Buckley’s mount will hopefully run a nice race and chase him home, or perhaps might even cause a surprise with victory.
Willie Mullins has dominated this race in recent years and runs Castlebawn North following his debut fourth at Leopardstown over Christmas. However, TALK IN THE PARK is my selection for Derek O’Connor and Mags Mullins having ran well on debut at Limerick also over the Christmas period. There was plenty of chat and good support for the Walk In the Park runner and debut and natural improved should produce progression to challenge on his second start. Elsewhere, He’s My Hero for Paul Nolan and Find A Fortune for Gordon Elliott are also in the mix following placed efforts in point-to-points last year.
